The ASUS GeForce RTX 5080 Noctua OC Edition (model RTX5080-O16G-NOCTUA) is a high-end graphics card with 16GB of GDDR7 memory. ASUS co-engineered it with the fan maker Noctua, so it carries three Noctua fans instead of the usual in-house design. Its aim is strong performance with low noise.
Blackwell, DLSS 4 and AI performance
The card is built on NVIDIA's Blackwell architecture and supports DLSS 4. DLSS is NVIDIA's AI-based upscaling and frame-generation technology, which renders at a lower resolution or frame count and uses a trained model to produce the final image. ASUS lists 1858 AI TOPS, a measure of the card's AI throughput in trillions of operations per second. For gamers, it is the headroom behind DLSS; for creators, it can help AI-assisted tools.
Clock speeds
This is an OC Edition card. ASUS lists 2730 MHz in OC mode and 2700 MHz in default mode. The two modes are usually selected in ASUS's GPU Tweak III software or with the card's dual BIOS.
The cooling design
The headline is the three Noctua NF-A12x25 G2 PWM 120mm fans. PWM means the speed is controlled by signal rather than by voltage alone, so the fans can run slowly at light loads. Heat is pulled from the GPU by an optimized vapor chamber, a flat sealed plate that spreads heat quickly, into a large fin array. A phase-change thermal pad sits between the GPU and the cooler. These materials are typically designed to soften at operating temperature and fill small gaps for better heat transfer.
ASUS lists 0dB technology, which it says lets you play lighter games in relative silence, with fans stopping at low loads. ASUS describes the design as ultra-low noise; real noise levels depend on your case airflow and the workload.
Dual BIOS and software
Dual BIOS gives you a switch between a Quiet profile and a Performance profile, so you can favour low noise or higher speeds. GPU Tweak III provides performance tweaking, thermal controls and system monitoring.
Size and who it suits
The listing gives a length of 15.2 inches (about 39 cm) and a weight of 5.9 lb (about 2.7 kg). The thickness figure in the listing shows as zero, so check ASUS's spec page for the slot width. This is a big, heavy card, and a support bracket is sometimes recommended for heavy cards, so look at what the manual says.
It suits builders who want high performance and a quiet system, particularly those who already use Noctua fans and coolers and like a matched look.
What to check before you buy
- Case clearance: measure length and thickness against your case before ordering.
- Power supply: check the wattage and connectors ASUS and NVIDIA recommend for the RTX 5080.
- Motherboard and support: make sure the PCIe x16 slot is free and the board can bear the weight.
- Airflow: a card this size still needs good case ventilation.
- Monitor and drivers: confirm your display inputs and that the latest drivers are installed.
