The ASUS ExpertBook P5 (model P5405CSA-DH76) is a 14-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor and Windows 11 Home. ASUS positions it as an "AI PC" for work: thin, light, and equipped with the hardware that Windows needs for on-device AI features. Here is what that means in daily use.
What "Copilot+" and 47 TOPS mean
ASUS lists an Intel AI Boost NPU, a neural processing unit, rated at up to 47 TOPS (trillions of operations per second). An NPU is a separate block of the processor designed to run AI workloads such as background blur, noise filtering and some text and image features, typically using less power than the main cores or the graphics chip. Copilot+ is Microsoft's label for Windows PCs that meet a minimum NPU performance level. The practical benefit depends on the software you use, since only apps written to use the NPU will take advantage of it.
Memory, storage and graphics
The laptop carries 32GB of LPDDR5X memory running at 8448 MHz and a 1TB SSD. Memory of this type is normally soldered to the board, so it is worth treating the 32GB as fixed. That amount is generous for many browser tabs, video calls and large spreadsheets at once. Graphics come from Intel Arc 140V, an integrated GPU that suits everyday work, light photo editing and video playback rather than demanding 3D games.
Display and design
The 14-inch screen is 2.5K (2560 x 1600) with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 100% sRGB colour gamut and an anti-glare finish. The higher refresh rate makes scrolling and cursor movement look smoother, and the anti-glare coating helps in bright offices. The all-metal chassis is 0.65 inches (about 16.5 mm) thin and weighs 2.84 lb (about 1.3 kg), which ASUS pairs with a battery it describes as all-day with fast charging. Battery life varies with screen brightness and workload.
Ports and connectivity
Port selection is a strength for a thin laptop. ASUS lists two Thunderbolt 4 ports that handle display output and power delivery, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, a combo audio jack and a Gigabit Ethernet (RJ45) socket. Wi-Fi 6E covers wireless. A built-in Ethernet port is handy for stable connections in offices, and it saves carrying a dongle.
Security and video calls
The business-oriented features include a fingerprint sensor built into the power key, a TPM 2.0 security chip, an infrared camera with Windows Hello face login, a webcam privacy shield and a Kensington Nano lock slot. For calls, ASUS adds two-way AI noise cancelling, which filters background sound on both the microphone and speaker side, and an AI-assisted camera with motion tracking.
Who it suits
This model fits people who want a light laptop for office work, remote meetings and travel, and who value having Ethernet and Thunderbolt built in. It is less aimed at gaming or heavy 3D rendering, where a discrete graphics card matters.
What to check before you buy
- Whether your software can use the NPU, and whether Windows 11 Home meets your organisation's needs (some workplaces require a Pro edition).
- That 32GB of memory and 1TB of storage cover your needs, since the memory is typically not upgradeable.
- Port needs: confirm your monitors, docks and peripherals match HDMI 2.1, Thunderbolt 4 and USB-A.
- Charging: check what charger is in the box and whether you can charge over USB-C.
- Screen finish and size: a 14-inch anti-glare panel suits many, but some prefer a larger display.
