The ASUS Dual Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB (model DUAL-RX9060XT-16G) is a graphics card for gaming PCs that brings 16GB of GDDR6 memory and a PCIe 5.0 interface into a fairly short, two-fan design. ASUS pitches it at gamers who want strong graphics performance in a compact build.
Size and the 2.5-slot design
The card is about 8.0 in (20 cm) long, 4.7 in wide and 1.9 in thick, and weighs 1.3 lb (about 0.6 kg). ASUS calls it a 2.5-slot design: it takes up the space of two and a half expansion slots on the back of the case. That is thicker than a basic two-slot card, but ASUS says the extra depth lets it keep cooling performance high while staying broadly compatible with different cases.
How the two fans work
ASUS says the cooler borrows ideas from its flagship cards. The two Axial-tech fans use a smaller hub, which leaves room for longer blades, and a barrier ring that increases the downward air pressure through the heatsink. More air through the fins generally means lower temperatures or quieter operation at the same temperature.
The fans use dual ball bearings. Ball bearings typically hold up better than sleeve bearings over long use, and ASUS says these can last up to twice as long.
0dB technology and dual BIOS
With 0dB technology, the fans stop under light loads, so desktop use and light gaming can be nearly silent. A BIOS switch on the card lets you toggle between a Quiet profile and a Performance profile. The Quiet profile typically favours lower fan noise, while Performance allows more aggressive cooling.
Clock speeds
ASUS lists two modes. In default mode, the boost clock is up to 3230 MHz and the game clock up to 2620 MHz. In OC mode, enabled in the GPU Tweak III utility, the boost clock goes up to 3250 MHz and the game clock up to 2640 MHz. The gap is small, so most owners will simply use default mode. Real-world results depend on the game, resolution and the rest of the system.
Connections
The listing gives HDMI 2.1b and DisplayPort 2.1a outputs. Those let you connect modern high-refresh-rate monitors and televisions, provided your display supports the same standards and you use suitable cables.
Who it suits
This card suits gamers upgrading an existing PC, or building a new one, who have limited case space or want to avoid very large cards. The 16GB of video memory is useful for high-resolution textures in modern games.
What to check before you buy
- Case clearance: confirm that your case can take a card of this length and thickness.
- Power supply: check ASUS's recommended supply wattage and the power connectors your unit provides.
- Motherboard slot: the card uses PCIe 5.0 but should work in a compatible x16 slot; check your board's documentation.
- Display inputs: make sure your monitor has an input that matches the card's HDMI or DisplayPort outputs.
- Processor pairing: a very old processor can limit what a modern card delivers.
- Drivers: check that your operating system is supported.
The short version
- A 16GB GDDR6 Radeon RX 9060 XT on a PCIe 5.0 interface.
- Two Axial-tech fans with dual ball bearings in a 2.5-slot design.
- 0dB technology and a Quiet/Performance BIOS switch.
- Default boost up to 3230 MHz, OC mode up to 3250 MHz.
- Measure your case and check your power supply first.
