The ASUS Dual Radeon RX 7600 V2 OC Edition is a graphics card that pairs AMD's RX 7600 graphics processor with 8GB of GDDR6 memory and a two-fan cooler. It is designed for desktop PCs used for gaming at common resolutions, and it comes with a factory overclock that ASUS calls OC mode.
What the clock speeds mean
In OC mode, ASUS lists a boost clock of up to 2715 MHz and a game clock of up to 2300 MHz. The game clock is the speed the card typically sustains in games, while boost is the short-term peak. Higher clocks generally mean more performance, but the result depends on the game, the processor and the cooling in your case.
The cooling design
The cooler uses what ASUS calls Axial-tech fans. A smaller fan hub leaves more room for blade length, which ASUS says increases airflow through the cooling array. The fans use dual ball bearings, which ASUS says last up to twice as long as conventional designs.
There is also 0dB technology. During light work, such as browsing or less demanding games, the fans stop spinning completely and the card runs silently. They start up again when the temperature rises. That suits quiet rooms.
A 2.5-slot design
The card takes up 2.5 expansion slots and measures about 8.1 by 5.0 by 1.9 inches (about 20.6 by 12.7 by 4.8 cm), and it weighs 1.4 lb (about 640 g). ASUS says the slim profile supports compact builds while keeping the cooling effective. Even so, it will cover the slot beside it, so make sure the neighbouring slot is not needed for another card.
Connections
The listing gives HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4a outputs and a PCIe 4.0 interface. PCIe 4.0 cards will also generally work in older PCIe slots, though possibly at reduced bandwidth. HDMI 2.1 is the version typically needed for higher refresh rates on newer televisions and monitors.
Build and software
ASUS says automated manufacturing is used for reliability, and that the stainless steel bracket is harder and more resistant to corrosion. The GPU Tweak III software handles performance tweaking, thermal controls and system monitoring, so you can raise or lower clocks and fan behaviour if you want to.
Who it suits
It suits someone building or upgrading a desktop gaming PC who wants a compact two-fan card with quiet idle behaviour. As an 8GB card, it is generally aimed at 1080p play, with the exact experience varying by game and settings.
What to check before you buy
- Case clearance: check the length, thickness and slot count against your case.
- Power supply: look at the power connectors and the supply wattage ASUS or AMD recommend for this card.
- Motherboard slot: you need a free PCIe x16 slot.
- Monitor inputs: confirm your display has an HDMI or DisplayPort input to match.
- Airflow: make sure the case has fans bringing in cool air.
- Drivers: download current drivers from AMD after installing.
