The WYBOT Hyson 100 is a cordless handheld vacuum for small jobs in pools, spas and hot tubs. It picks up leaves, sand and dirt from steps, corners and the floor of smaller water features. It is a spot cleaner rather than a replacement for a full pool robot, and WYBOT says so itself.
Two heads for different spots
The kit includes two removable heads. The general cleaning head handles open surfaces. The nose cone head is meant for places where a wide head won't fit, such as corners and steps. WYBOT notes that many similar tools ship with only one head. Changing heads takes the same tool from a tub floor to a tight seat or stair.
Telescopic pole and reach
The Hyson 100 can be used by hand or attached to the included telescopic pole, which extends to 59 inches. That reach suits deeper spas and above-ground pools. WYBOT notes that for a bigger pool (deeper than about 5 ft) you will need a longer standard pole, which is not included. Check your pool's depth and how far you can reach from the edge.
Filter and debris capture
The vacuum has a 0.5 L fine metal mesh filter that traps debris as water passes through. WYBOT states that it suits steps and corners, not cleaning an entire large pool. A 0.5 L capacity is small by design, so expect to empty it often if there is a lot of debris. Rinsing the filter after use is standard practice with most pool vacuums.
Battery and runtime
A 5200 mAh rechargeable lithium battery provides up to 60 minutes of runtime, per WYBOT. Runtime differs with conditions and how hard the motor works. Check the manual for charging advice and what to do with the battery after use.
Size
The unit measures about 29.0 x 8.6 x 5.9 inches. WYBOT describes it as lightweight and compact, which suits reaching tight spots around the pool.
Who it suits
It suits owners of above-ground pools, hot tubs and spas who want a tool for quick clean-ups of leaves, sand and dirt. It also works as a supplement for larger pools where a robot or main vacuum leaves behind debris on steps and in corners. It's not designed for whole-pool cleaning.
What to check before you buy
- Pool depth and size: confirm the 59-inch pole reaches the areas you want, and whether you need a longer pole.
- Water type: check the manual that it suits your pool or spa, including any limits on water conditions or chemicals.
- Debris type: fine sand and small leaves are the target; large debris may clog a small filter.
- Charging: confirm where you can charge the battery, away from water, and how long it takes.
- Upkeep: look at the manual for how to clean and dry the filter and heads.
- Electrical safety: follow the instructions on using and charging battery equipment near water.
The short version
- A cordless handheld vacuum for pools, spas and hot tubs.
- Two removable heads: a general head and a nose cone head for corners and steps.
- 59-inch telescopic pole; longer pole needed for bigger pools.
- 0.5 L metal mesh filter and a 5200 mAh battery rated for up to 60 minutes.
- Designed for steps, corners and small pools, not the whole of a large one.
