The Enhulk EHT21001-L20 is a rechargeable, handheld pool vacuum for above-ground and in-ground pools. It picks up leaves, sand and small debris without hoses, a pump or a power cord, so you can clean a pool or hot tub in a few minutes whenever it needs it. Here is what the numbers on the box mean in practice.

What the motor and flow rate do

Enhulk lists a 20V, 40W motor and a maximum flow rate of up to 4,200 litres per hour (the brand also quotes this as up to 18.5 gallons a minute). Flow rate is the volume of water the vacuum draws through its filter bag, so a higher figure generally means debris is pulled in faster. A 40W motor is modest compared with a mains-powered pool pump, which is the trade-off for a light, cordless tool. It is aimed at spot cleaning and regular tidying rather than recovering a pool that has been neglected for weeks.

Battery life and charging

The battery pack is made up of five 2,000mAh lithium-ion cells. Enhulk says it runs for up to 60 minutes and recharges fully in about 1.5 hours using quick-charge technology. Runtime figures are usually measured under ideal conditions, so a heavily loaded bag or constant use may shorten it. For most owners an hour is enough to cover a typical backyard pool in one session.

Two handles for different jobs

The vacuum comes with a short handle and a telescopic pole that extends from 3 to 7.3 feet (about 0.9 to 2.2 metres). The handles swap quickly. The short one suits steps, spas and shallow areas; the long pole lets you reach the floor of a deeper pool from the deck. Check the depth of your pool against the maximum pole length before relying on it for the deep end.

Filter bags and the brush head

Four reusable filter bags are included: two 180-mesh and two 500-mesh. Mesh number refers to how fine the weave is, so the 500-mesh bags catch finer particles such as sand and silt, while the coarser 180-mesh bags suit leaves and twigs and are less likely to clog. Having both lets you match the bag to the debris.

The removable triangular brush head is 23.5 cm (9.25 inches) wide and has ball wheels so it glides along the floor. Its triangular shape is designed to reach into corners, which round or square heads often miss.

Size and storage

The assembled unit measures about 27.6 x 7.9 x 4.7 inches (70 x 20 x 12 cm) before the pole is attached. Because it is cordless, it can be stored in a garage or shed and charged indoors.

Who it suits

It suits owners of small to mid-sized above-ground and in-ground pools, inflatable-style pools and hot tubs who want a quick way to remove leaves and grit between filter cycles. It is less suited to very large pools or to heavy algae, which typically need a robotic cleaner, a pool pump system or chemical treatment.

What to check before you buy

  • Pool size and depth: compare the 7.3 ft pole with the deepest part of your pool.
  • Type of debris: fine sand and silt call for the 500-mesh bags, which need rinsing more often.
  • Battery routine: charging takes about 1.5 hours, so charge it before each session. Keep the charger and battery dry and follow the manual.
  • Pool surface: check the manual to confirm the brush head is suitable for your liner or finish.
  • Upkeep: bags need rinsing after use, and the brush head should be checked for trapped debris.
  • What's in the box: the handle, pole, brush head, four bags and charger, per the brand's list.

The short version

  • A cordless, handheld pool vacuum with a 20V, 40W motor, rated by Enhulk at up to 4,200 L/h.
  • Runs up to 60 minutes per charge and recharges in about 1.5 hours.
  • Includes a 3 to 7.3 ft telescopic pole, a short handle and four reusable filter bags in two mesh sizes.
  • A 9.25-inch triangular brush head with ball wheels is designed for corners and floors.
  • Best for regular debris pickup rather than heavy-duty pool recovery.
