The WORX WG322 is a compact 10-inch cordless chainsaw powered by a 20V Power Share battery. It is designed for light yard work such as cutting up small logs and trimming branches, without the fuel, noise and cord of other types of chainsaw. A battery and charger are included.
Size and weight
The saw weighs 6.2 lb (about 2.8 kg), which WORX compares to a 2-litre bottle of soda, and measures roughly 25 x 7.5 x 9.5 inches. A lighter saw is generally easier to handle and less tiring over a longer session, though the 10-inch bar limits what it can cut. It suits small branches and modest logs rather than felling large trees.
Chain speed
WORX lists a chain speed of 12.5 ft/s (about 3.8 m/s) and says it will cut through reasonably sized logs and branches. Chain speed combined with a sharp chain affects how clean and fast a cut is. Keep the chain sharp, as the manual advises.
Auto-lubrication
A chain needs oil to cut smoothly and to protect the bar. This saw has an automatic chain lubrication system and an oil-level indicator so you can see when to refill. WORX notes that you must fill the oil tank with chain oil before use, then run the chain for a few seconds without cutting to help the oil spread. Chain oil is sold separately.
Tool-free chain tension
Chains stretch with use and loose chains cut badly. The WG322 has an automatic, tool-free tension system, which WORX says keeps the tension correct for the job. This saves hunting for a wrench in the middle of work, though you should still check the chain as the manual describes.
Power Share battery
The battery is the same 20V type used across more than 75 tools in WORX's Power Share family, including its lawnmowers and Jawsaw, according to the company. If you own other Power Share tools, the battery can be swapped between them. Runtime depends on the battery capacity and the wood, so check the manual for guidance.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners with a small yard who want a light saw for occasional pruning, storm clean-up of small limbs and firewood prep. It is not aimed at professional or heavy-duty use.
What to check before you buy
- Bar length: a 10-inch bar limits the diameter you can cut in one pass.
- Chain oil: buy it separately and keep the tank filled.
- Safety gear: chainsaws need eye and hearing protection, gloves and sturdy footwear. Read the manual first.
- Battery: check what charge time and capacity are included.
- Storage and upkeep: keep the chain sharp and clean; check how to replace the chain and bar.
