The Worx Landroid L WR155 is a robotic lawn mower designed for lawns up to about half an acre (21,780 sq ft). It mows on its own inside a boundary wire you lay around the lawn, returns to a charging station, and can be scheduled from a smartphone app. It's aimed at people who'd like to hand over routine mowing.
How a boundary-wire mower works
You place the charging station, run the boundary wire around the lawn's perimeter, and secure it with pegs. The mower senses the wire and stays inside it. Worx says you then finish setup in the Landroid app. The kit includes 820 ft of boundary wire, 340 pegs, two wire connectors, eight base screws, nine blades, nine blade screws and a hex key.
Because robotic mowers cut little and often, they typically leave very fine clippings on the lawn rather than bagging them.
App control
The Landroid app connects by Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Worx says you can control the mower remotely and schedule mowing times from it.
Navigating narrow paths and uneven ground
Worx describes a patented AIA (Artificial Intelligence Algorithm) cutting technology that helps it pass through narrow paths. A floating blade disc lifts the blades on its own when the ground is uneven, which Worx says gives more clearance so the mower doesn't get trapped or stuck. Cutting width is 8 inches, with a no-load blade speed of 2400 per minute.
Brushless motor
A brushless motor has no carbon brushes to wear, and Worx says this one runs 50% longer, is 25% more powerful and lasts 10% longer than mowers with brushed motors. These are Worx's comparisons.
Battery
It's powered by a 20V 5.0Ah PowerShare battery (WA3671). Worx says the battery is compatible with its 20V, 40V and 80V tools, so it can move to other Worx products.
Size
The mower measures 24.8 x 17.8 x 9.5 inches (63 x 45 x 24 cm).
Who it suits
It suits owners of medium to larger lawns who want regular mowing without doing it themselves, and who are happy to spend an afternoon laying the boundary wire.
What to check before you buy
- Lawn area and shape: confirm your lawn fits within the half-acre limit, and think about how narrow passages are laid out.
- Slopes and obstacles: check the manual for gradient limits and how to mark out trees, beds and ponds.
- Wire length: the 820 ft of wire should cover your perimeter, with extra for islands.
- Charging station site: it needs a level spot near a power outlet and a clear approach.
- Wi-Fi coverage: check the signal reaches the mower for app features.
- Blades: the kit includes nine; confirm replacements are easy to find.
- Pets and children: follow the manual's guidance on mowing times and keeping the lawn clear.
