The VEVOR TC4278 is a steel dump trailer designed to be towed behind an ATV, UTV, garden tractor or ride-on lawn mower. It is for moving loads such as soil, firewood, leaves and debris around a yard or property, and it tips to unload.
Capacity and load limit
VEVOR gives the bed capacity as 22 cubic feet (roughly 0.62 cubic metres) and the load limit as 1,600 lbs. Those are two different limits. Volume tells you how much light material, like leaves or mulch, fits. Weight tells you the maximum for dense material, and soil, gravel or wet wood can reach 1,600 lbs long before the bed is full. In general, you fill dense loads only part way.
The brand says reinforced side rails and a reinforced hitch help prevent deformation. A removable rear panel is part of the design, which makes unloading long items easier.
Hitching up
The trailer uses a 0.47-inch (12 mm) pin with two pin holes. VEVOR lists tractors, ATVs, UTVs and lawnmowers as compatible. In practice, what matters is that your towing vehicle has a hitch or drawbar that accepts that pin size, and that it is rated to tow the trailer's weight plus its load. The trailer itself weighs 117.9 lb empty.
Dumping: hand or foot
There are two ways to tip the bed. Hand-pull release is for more precise placement. A foot pedal is for quick, bulk unloading without bending. VEVOR says this reduces strain and improves efficiency.
Wheels and terrain
The tyres are 16 by 8 inch pneumatic (air-filled) units on a reinforced axle. Air-filled tyres generally cushion the ride and grip better on soft ground than small hard wheels, and VEVOR says they give traction on grass, mud and gravel. Check tyre pressure now and then, as with any pneumatic tyre.
Size
The listing gives dimensions of about 87 by 28.9 by 32.9 inches. At roughly 29 inches wide, it is narrow enough for many garden gates and paths, but measure yours.
What to check before you buy
- Towing vehicle: check its towing capacity and its hitch type against the 0.47-inch pin and the trailer's weight.
- Load weight: remember the 1,600 lb limit, especially for wet or dense material.
- Terrain: consider slopes, since a loaded trailer pushes against the towing vehicle on downhill runs.
- Gate and path widths: measure against the trailer's width of about 29 inches.
- Assembly: allow time for assembly and check the fasteners as the manual advises.
- Upkeep: check tyres, hitch pin and moving parts regularly, and keep it dry to protect the steel.
