The VEVOR BTC002C is a steel tow-behind dump cart for yard work. It hooks to a garden tractor, lawn mower, ATV or UTV and carries soil, firewood, leaves and other loose material, then tips it out at the other end. The idea is to cut down on wheelbarrow trips on a larger property.

Capacity and load limit

VEVOR gives the cart a 750 lb limit (about 340 kg) and gives its capacity as 15 cubic feet (about 0.42 cubic metres). The two numbers are different limits. Volume tells you how much fits, weight tells you what the cart can safely carry. Heavy material such as wet soil, gravel or stone reaches the weight limit long before the bed is full, while light material like leaves fills the bed first. Check what you plan to haul against both.

The cart has rails on three sides. VEVOR says the side plates are 0.04 in thick with a doubled side reinforcement to resist bending under load.

How the dump works

The rear gate opens, and the bed tips with a hand pull or a foot step on the release, according to VEVOR. Tipping the bed lets you empty it without lifting, which saves a lot of effort with soil or mulch. As a general rule, dump on level ground, keep people clear of the load, and never tip while the cart is still moving.

Connecting to your machine

VEVOR describes a universal connection that needs no special tools, for use with tractors, lawn mowers, ATVs and UTVs. Tow-behind carts usually use a hitch pin and a drawbar, and the match depends on the hitch height and type on your machine. Look at the hitch before ordering.

Wheels and frame

The tyres are 16 x 4 in pneumatic, meaning air-filled. They absorb bumps better than hard plastic wheels, which matters on uneven ground, though they need occasional pressure checks. VEVOR says the frame has an extra coating for rust resistance. Even coated steel benefits from being kept dry and touched up if the paint is scratched.

Size and weight

The overall size is about 78.7 x 29.9 x 29.9 in (200 x 76 x 76 cm) and the weight is about 97 lb (44 kg). The narrow width suits garden paths and gates, while the length is worth measuring against your storage space.

Who it suits

It suits owners of larger gardens, small farms, acreage and cottages who already have a tractor, mower or ATV with a hitch. It's less useful on a small city lot with no towing machine.

What to check before you buy

  • Hitch: confirm your machine has a suitable hitch and enough towing capacity.
  • Load: weigh up your typical material against the 750 lb limit, and remember that your machine's own towing limit applies too.
  • Slopes: loaded carts are heavy to control on hills. Follow the manuals of both the cart and tow vehicle.
  • Assembly: check what comes assembled and what tools you will need.
  • Upkeep: check tyre pressure, grease points if any, and the condition of the gate latch.
  • Local rules: if you plan to cross public roads, check local rules, since a garden cart is not usually a road trailer.

The short version

  • A steel tow-behind dump cart for tractors, mowers, ATVs and UTVs.
  • 750 lb limit, with 15 cubic feet of capacity and rails on three sides.
  • Hand-pull or foot-step dump release with an opening rear gate.
  • 16 x 4 in pneumatic tyres and a coated frame.
  • About 97 lb empty, so storage space and hitch fit are worth checking.
