The VEVOR 1200 lb Poly Dump Cart is a four-wheel yard cart with a tipping bed. You can pull it by hand around a garden, or hitch it behind a lawn tractor, ATV or UTV for longer hauls. It is aimed at moving soil, mulch, firewood, stone and similar loads without lifting them in and out by hand.

What 1,200 lb and 7 cubic feet mean

VEVOR rates the cart at up to 1,200 lb (about 544 kg) with a capacity of 6.48 cubic feet in the specs and 7 cubic feet in the title. In practice, the weight limit and the volume do not always match up. A cubic foot of dry wood chips is light, while a cubic foot of wet soil or gravel is much heavier, so you will usually fill the bed before you reach the weight limit with light material, and hit the limit before the bed is full with dense material. Treat the limit as a ceiling, not a target.

The 2-in-1 convertible handle

The handle works two ways. As a pull handle, it lets you tow the cart by hand like a wagon, and VEVOR says it adjusts through 180° for easier turning. As a tow bar, it connects to a vehicle such as an ATV, UTV or garden tractor. The brand describes the cart as suited to yards, orchards, farms and warehouses.

Tipping and unloading

A front-handle dumping frame lets you tip the bed forward to empty it. VEVOR calls this a quick release system: disassembling the bottom of the frame frees the bed for dumping. Tipping beats shovelling for loose material, though large, wet or compacted loads may still need some help.

Wheels and ground

The cart has four 13-inch rubber tires, which VEVOR says absorb shock on uneven ground and grassy slopes. As a rule, larger wheels roll over bumps and soft turf more easily than small ones. A frame of metal with a surface coating is meant to keep the cart durable outdoors, and the bed is made of poly, which is a tough plastic that does not rust or dent like thin steel.

Cover and cushion

The cart ships with a mesh cover and a cushion. The cover helps hold lightweight loads such as leaves in place while you move, and the cushion is there to protect the load.

Size and weight

The assembled cart measures about 79.5 x 31.7 x 25.6 inches (roughly 202 x 81 x 65 cm), and weighs 58.4 lb (26.5 kg). That is long when the tow handle is extended, so measure your shed or garage door before you buy.

What to check before you buy

  • Towing setup: check the hitch type on your tractor or ATV and whether the tow handle's connector fits it.
  • Towing limits: your vehicle has its own towing and tongue-weight limits; follow its manual, and keep speeds low on slopes.
  • Load type: work out the weight of what you usually carry, not just the volume.
  • Assembly: it arrives to be put together, so check the manual and tools needed.
  • Storage: about 6.6 feet (2 m) long with the handle out; see where it will live.
  • Upkeep: check tyre pressure and clean out wet or acidic material after use.
