The VEVOR KBD2815G is a replacement pump for gas-powered pressure washers. It is a horizontal triplex plunger pump with a 1-inch shaft, meant to take the place of a worn or failed pump on a compatible machine. This page explains what its numbers mean and how to check that it fits.

What a triplex plunger pump does

A triplex pump has three plungers that move in turn to push water through the head at high pressure. The pump is the part of a pressure washer that actually creates the pressure; the engine only turns it. When a pump wears out, replacing it can be an option instead of replacing the whole machine, which is what VEVOR suggests with this kit.

Reading the PSI and GPM figures

The listing gives a recommended working pressure of 3600 to 4000 PSI and a maximum flow of 4 GPM. PSI is the force of the water at the nozzle, which affects how well it lifts dirt. GPM is the volume of water, which affects how quickly an area is rinsed clear. The model name says 4400 PSI, but the recommended working range is the figure to plan around. VEVOR also notes the regulator can adjust pressure, because the factory setting is not at the maximum, in order to protect the spring.

VEVOR suggests uses such as walls, sidewalks and vehicles, and both daily and professional cleaning.

Fitting it to your machine

This pump uses a standard SAE bolt pattern and is intended for gas pressure washers with horizontal engines. The listing names Simpson MorFlex models 40224, 40225 and 40226 and Santoprene model 41182, and says it is compatible with various brands, including Honda, Homelite and Troybilt engines. Because that is only a starting point, the brand advises matching:

  • engine orientation (horizontal);
  • PSI and GPM;
  • engine shaft diameter (1 inch here);
  • the inlet and outlet connections on your current pump.

A mismatch in any one of these can mean the pump won't bolt on or won't suit the engine's power.

Build details

The pump head is one piece of forged brass, which VEVOR says gives a better seal and higher strength. The plungers are hardened to improve wear resistance and extend the life of the water and oil seals. Brass is a common choice for pump heads because it resists corrosion.

Checking the oil

The pump has a sight glass, so you can see the oil level and its condition without a dipstick. VEVOR points out you can also see if the oil looks cloudy, which generally suggests water has got in and the seals need attention. Use the oil type and change interval in the manual.

Size and weight

It measures roughly 15.4 x 11.8 x 10.2 inches and weighs 20 lb (about 9 kg). Check the mounting space on your frame.

Who it suits

It suits owners of compatible gas pressure washers who are comfortable with basic mechanical work and want to restore a machine whose pump has failed. If your washer is electric or has a vertical shaft, this is not the part.

What to check before you buy

  • Engine and shaft: confirm a horizontal engine and a 1-inch shaft.
  • Pressure range: make sure your engine and hoses suit the pump's PSI and GPM.
  • Connections: compare the inlet and outlet fittings with your old pump.
  • What's included: check whether you need to reuse or buy the unloader, hoses and fittings.
  • Upkeep: note the oil type, change interval and winter storage advice in the manual.
  • Safety: high-pressure water can injure; follow the manual and wear the protective gear it advises.

The short version
