The VEVOR TC5001B is a 42-inch tow-behind lawn sweeper, an attachment that hooks onto a lawn tractor and collects leaves, grass clippings and light debris as you drive. It is meant for people with larger lawns who want to cut down on raking.
How a tow-behind sweeper works
A tow-behind sweeper has no engine of its own. As the wheels turn, they drive a rotating brush that flicks debris up and back into a collection bag. That means it needs a tractor or similar towing vehicle, and the sweeping speed follows your driving speed. It is a different tool from a leaf blower or a lawn vacuum, and it works best on dry material.
Sweeping width and brush
The sweeping width is 42 inches (about 107 cm), so each pass covers a wide strip. The wider the path, the fewer passes a lawn needs. VEVOR says the brush has a 10.5-inch diameter and that the metal-to-brush connection at the bottom has been widened, which it says improves how efficiently leaves and grass are picked up.
The brush height adjusts with a lever and needs no special tools. This matters because the right setting depends on the surface: a brush that skims just above a lawn can be set differently for a driveway or sidewalk. VEVOR lists sidewalks, driveways, yards and lawns as suitable surfaces.
What it picks up
The brand lists leaves, pine needles, small branches and other dry debris. As a general rule, sweepers do best on dry material. Wet leaves tend to clump and stick, and larger sticks, stones or heavy debris can jam or damage a brush, so it helps to clear those first.
Collection bag and emptying
The bag is non-woven fabric and holds up to 12 cubic feet of yard waste, which VEVOR says reduces how often you have to stop and empty it. A cover helps keep leaves from blowing back out. A dump rope lets you release the contents from the tractor seat, so you can empty it directly onto a compost pile or a tarp without climbing off.
Setup and storage
Parts come pre-installed to cut down assembly time, and VEVOR includes an installation manual and a step-by-step guide. The unit measures about 69.3 x 50.0 x 24.0 inches and weighs 63.7 lb (about 29 kg). It folds for storage, and VEVOR says it can be kept in a shed or hung in a garage.
Who it suits
It suits owners of lawn tractors or ride-on mowers with a medium to large lawn, particularly in autumn when leaves fall, or in spring for clearing pine needles and twigs. It is less useful on a small garden or where you have no towing vehicle.
What to check before you buy
- Your tractor: confirm it has a hitch you can tow from and that the sweeper's hitch connection matches it.
- Width: a 42-inch sweeper needs to fit through gates and between obstacles. Measure your narrowest gap.
- Terrain: a tow-behind attachment follows the ground, so very uneven or sloped areas may be harder to sweep evenly.
- Towing speed: sweepers usually work best at a moderate pace. Check the manual.
- Debris type: dry leaves and clippings suit a sweeper; wet material and large branches may not.
- Storage space: allow room for the folded unit.
- Upkeep: brushes wear over time, so check the manual on inspection and replacement.
