The VEVOR QYP48*20IN is a 4 ft tow-behind drag harrow, a simple steel frame that you pull behind an ATV, UTV, truck or lawn tractor to level and smooth the ground. It is aimed at people who maintain a gravel driveway, a paddock, a riding arena or a large lawn. Here is how it works and what to check.

What a drag harrow does

A drag harrow has no motor. As it is pulled, its bars and tines move across the surface, spreading loose material, breaking up clumps and filling shallow ruts. On a gravel driveway that typically means redistributing stone from high spots into low ones. On soil or grass it can smooth the surface before seeding. How well it works depends on the material, how dry it is and how fast you tow.

Build and finish

VEVOR says the harrow is made from thickened angle iron with a green powder coating for rust resistance. Powder coating is a baked-on finish that is generally tougher than ordinary paint, although scratches can still expose bare steel, so a touch-up and dry storage help in the long run. It measures 48 x 19.7 x 3.9 inches (about 122 x 50 x 10 cm) and weighs 44.5 lb (about 20 kg).

Width and weight

The 4 ft width lets you cover a strip in one pass, and VEVOR says the included crossbars add weight so the harrow digs in and levels more effectively. Weight matters because a light harrow can skip over the surface, while a heavier one cuts deeper. The adjustable bars let you change how aggressively it works.

Hitching to your vehicle

The harrow attaches with a 72-inch (about 1.8 m) chain. VEVOR says the chain allows easy attachment and detachment and adjustable pulling force, which helps avoid damage at the hitch point. Compatibility is listed as ATVs, UTVs, trucks and lawn tractors. Check your tow vehicle's hitch and its manual for towing capacity, since a small mower may have limits.

Setting it up

VEVOR describes a quick hitch system: tighten the screws, connect the chain and it is ready. As with any tow-behind tool, keep bystanders clear and tow at modest speed.

Where it is useful

  • Gravel driveways and parking areas
  • Farm tracks and paddocks
  • Levelling soil, sand or grass before seeding
  • Arenas and trails

Who it suits

It suits owners of larger properties who already have a towing vehicle and want a low-maintenance way to keep surfaces even. It is less useful for small gardens that are easier to rake by hand.

What to check before you buy

  • Tow vehicle: confirm it has a hitch point and enough pulling power.
  • Width of your drive or track: 4 ft means several passes on wide areas.
  • Surface: heavy compacted clay or deep ruts may need more weight or a heavier tool.
  • Storage: keep it dry to protect the coating.
  • Assembly: have basic tools ready and check what is in the box.
  • Safety: follow the manual on towing speed and clear the area first.

The short version

  • A 4 ft tow-behind steel drag harrow, 44.5 lb.
  • Powder-coated angle iron with adjustable bars and extra crossbars for weight.
  • Attaches with a 72-inch chain to ATVs, UTVs, trucks and lawn tractors.
  • For levelling gravel, soil, sand and grass.
  • No motor, so little upkeep beyond keeping it dry.
