The VEVOR EM3500-24L is a hybrid solar inverter that combines a pure sine wave inverter, a battery charger and an MPPT solar charge controller in one unit. It is made for off-grid or backup solar systems with a 24V battery bank. It produces single-phase 220/230V AC.
What "hybrid" means
A hybrid inverter can draw power from solar panels, a battery bank and the mains (grid), and decide which to use. VEVOR lists three charging modes: Solar Only, Mains Only and Solar & Mains. It also lists four output modes: UTL, SOL, SBU and SUB. These usually set the priority between utility power, solar and battery, so check the manual for exactly what each does.
Pure sine wave output
The inverter delivers 3500W of pure sine wave power. That is a smooth waveform like grid power, which most electronics and motor-driven appliances handle well. Pure sine wave units are generally preferred for sensitive equipment.
MPPT charge controller
MPPT (maximum power point tracking) adjusts the electrical load on the panels so they deliver as much power as conditions allow. VEVOR says this unit supports up to 100A battery charging and a solar conversion efficiency of 94%. It lists a maximum PV power of 4000W and a PV voltage range of 60V to 500V DC. Panel strings must be wired inside that window, so work out your array's voltage in cold and warm weather.
Batteries
It is built for 24V battery systems and supports lithium, lead-acid and custom batteries. VEVOR says it is optimised for lithium and includes an activation function that can wake a lithium battery that has shut down. Always match battery settings to the battery maker's specifications.
Monitoring and protection
A built-in WiFi module allows remote monitoring through an app. VEVOR notes the app collects data every 5 minutes, so it is not real time. Settings can also be changed using the buttons on the unit. Listed protections include over-temperature, over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage, short-circuit and overload.
Voltage: the 220V note
This is a single-phase 220V output unit. VEVOR says that for 110/120V US appliances you can add a transformer, which is not included, to step the voltage down. Check regional compatibility carefully; a transformer needs to be sized for your loads.
Size
It measures 12.1 x 4.1 x 14.4 inches (about 31 x 10 x 37 cm) and weighs 13.5 lb (about 6.1 kg), small for this power class and suitable for wall mounting.
Who it suits
It suits people building or expanding an off-grid cabin, workshop or backup system in a region using 220/230V, and those who want charger, inverter and solar controller in one box.
What to check before you buy
- Local voltage: confirm 220/230V suits your appliances, or plan for a transformer.
- Battery: it needs a 24V bank; check chemistry and settings.
- Panels: keep the array within 60V to 500V DC and 4000W.
- Installation: wiring, fusing and grounding for solar systems should follow the manual and local electrical codes; use a qualified electrician if unsure.
- Loads: total your running and start-up watts against 3500W.
