The VEVOR DT810 is a covered trailer that hitches to the back of a bicycle so a dog can come along on rides. It is meant for dogs that can't run alongside the bike for long, whether because of size, age or distance. The frame folds for storage, which makes it practical to keep in a garage or car boot.
Capacity and bike fit
VEVOR says the trailer carries up to 88 lb (40 kg). It attaches with a universal coupler and, according to the brand, fits bikes with wheel diameters of 22 to 28 inches. Check that against your bike's wheel size, and also look at the rear axle or frame area where the coupler mounts, since bikes with unusual axles, thick fenders or certain racks may need extra care. The weight limit includes everything inside, so a dog plus a blanket and water needs to stay under it.
Frame and fabric
The frame is powder-coated steel, and the cover is 600D polyester that VEVOR describes as waterproof and sunproof. These are the brand's descriptions, and it is sensible to expect that heavy rain, long sun exposure and hot weather call for common-sense limits, such as shade, water and rest stops.
Doors and ventilation
The front door has two layers: a zippered mesh layer and a PVC canvas layer. You can fold the canvas back to let a breeze through, or lower it to keep rain and wind out. VEVOR says the transparent front door gives ventilation while keeping the dog protected. There are zippered doors at both the front and the rear, and a dog may be able to put its head out through the opening.
Folding, wheels and storage
Assembly is by quick connection: the trailer clips to the bike through the coupler. VEVOR says the wheels are removable and the frame folds and flips to a compact shape. Unfolded, the trailer is about 56.7 x 28.3 x 30.7 inches (144 x 72 x 78 cm) and weighs 26.2 lb (about 11.9 kg), so you need to be able to lift and carry it. Reflectors and a safety flag are included, which help other road users notice the trailer.
Using it with your dog
Most dogs need time to get used to a trailer. A short introduction while it is parked and then slow rides on quiet routes is the usual approach. Follow the manual on harnesses or tethers, weight distribution and speed limits, and check local rules on cycling with trailers.
Who it suits
It suits cyclists with a medium or large dog that can't keep pace, older dogs that still enjoy outings, and people who want to run errands by bike with their pet. It is less suited to very hilly routes without a strong rider, or to dogs that are anxious in enclosed spaces.
What to check before you buy
- Dog size: measure the interior against your dog's length and height, and check the weight against 88 lb.
- Bike compatibility: confirm the wheel size and how the coupler attaches to your bike.
- Storage space: confirm you have room for the folded trailer and can lift 26 lb.
- Climate: consider ventilation and shade for warm weather.
- Upkeep: check how to clean the fabric and where to find replacement parts.
- Local rules: check regulations on trailers and visibility.
