The AFERIY 200W portable solar panel (model sf-200A01) is a foldable panel meant to charge a portable power station or, through its built-in ports, small devices directly. It packs down to carry-on size for camping, RV and boat trips, and for anywhere you want power without a fixed installation.
What 200 watts means in practice
The 200W figure is the panel's rated output in full, direct sunlight. Real output is usually lower, since cloud, haze, a low sun angle, heat and shade all reduce it. A panel of this size is typically used to top up a portable power station over a day, rather than run large appliances directly. AFERIY says the panel converts 23% of the sunlight that reaches it, and that its MWT cell design lets up to 98% of light through the material.
Cells and construction
The panel uses monocrystalline silicon cells, a common choice for portable panels because they generally make good use of limited area. The surface is Oxford cloth with stitched edges, and AFERIY gives it an IP65 classification. That covers splashes and spray, not soaking, and the brand asks you to dry the panel promptly. A side pocket holds the cable and covers the charging ports.
Ports and what you can connect
The panel has several outputs, and AFERIY says up to five devices can charge at once:
- Two USB ports with QC 3.0
- One USB-C port with PD at 18W
- One DC5521 port
- An MC4-Anderson cable for solar generators
The USB and USB-C ports suit phones, tablets and cameras. The MC4-Anderson lead is for portable power stations that accept that connection. Check your station's input connector, voltage range and wattage limit before connecting it.
Weight and folding
The panel weighs 4.5 kg (9.9 lb). AFERIY says that's about half the weight of other panels of the same capacity. A folded kickstand lets you angle the panel toward the sun. Because angle makes a real difference to output, it's worth repositioning it through the day.
Certifications and warranty
AFERIY lists FCC, RoHS and CE certifications and a 36-month warranty. The box includes the panel, a user manual and a warranty card.
Care and storage
The brand's notes are practical. Keep the panel upright when it's not in use for a long time, and don't put heavy objects on it, since that can crack the cells. Keep the connectors dry to avoid a short circuit, and if it rains, put the panel and power supply away and dry the surface. Always follow the manual and local rules when connecting any power equipment.
Who it suits
It suits campers, RV and van owners, boaters, and anyone keeping a portable power station charged during outages or trips. It's also handy for charging phones and cameras off-grid.
What to check before you buy
- Power station compatibility: confirm its solar input connector, maximum input voltage and watts.
- Space and sun: 200W panels are large when open, so make sure you have a sunny spot to set one up.
- Realistic output: expect less than the rated figure outside perfect conditions.
- Cable length: check how far the panel can sit from your power station.
- Water exposure: IP65 means splash-resistant, not submersible.
- What's in the box: panel, manual and warranty card.
