The VEVOR 2000 PSI electric pressure washer (model VV-GYQXJ-1.76D) is a plug-in washer for the outdoor jobs that a garden hose can't quite handle: patios, fences, decks, driveways, cars and lawn equipment. It runs on a standard 120 V outlet, so there is no petrol engine to maintain, and it weighs 19.8 lb (9 kg).

What 2000 PSI and 1.76 GPM mean

PSI is the pressure at the nozzle, and GPM is the volume of water moving through it. Pressure loosens dirt; flow carries it away. VEVOR rates this washer at a maximum of 2000 PSI and 1.76 GPM, powered by a 1500 W motor. Electric washers in this range are typically aimed at home use, such as washing a car, cleaning garden furniture or freshening up paving, rather than daily commercial work. VEVOR also lists old paint, oil and weeds among the jobs it can tackle.

Five nozzles and a foam cannon

The kit includes five quick-connect metal nozzles: 0°, 15°, 25°, 40° and a turbo nozzle. As a general rule, a narrower angle gives a more concentrated jet for stubborn marks on hard surfaces, while 25° and 40° spread the water for rinsing and for more delicate surfaces. The 0° nozzle is the most aggressive and is usually kept for tough spots on hard materials. The turbo nozzle spins a narrow jet in a circle to cover more area.

A 500 ml self-spraying detergent bottle works as a foam cannon, so you can coat a surface before rinsing. A water inlet filter is fitted to help keep debris out of the nozzles.

Hose, cord and storage

A 30 ft (9 m) pressure hose and a 35 ft (10.5 m) power cord give a wide working radius before you need to move the machine. VEVOR says the inlet and outlet fittings are metal to resist leaks, and a built-in hose reel keeps the hose tidy and less prone to kinks. The body is compact PP plastic with an ergonomic handle and two wheels, and VEVOR says one person can assemble it in minutes.

Built-in protections

  • Total Stop System (TSS): the pump shuts off when the trigger isn't squeezed, which saves energy and reduces wear.
  • Trigger lock: a press-type lock on the spray gun helps prevent accidental spraying.
  • Thermal cut-out: the unit stops automatically if temperatures go above 105°C.
  • GFCI on the cord: a ground-fault circuit interrupter is included, and the washer has an IPX5 water-protection class and ETL listing.

VEVOR recommends not running the washer for more than three hours at a time.

Who it suits

It suits homeowners and renters with a driveway, deck, fence or vehicle to clean, and anyone who prefers a quiet, low-maintenance electric machine to a petrol one. Larger or more demanding work, such as regular commercial cleaning, typically calls for a higher-rated machine.

What to check before you buy

  • Surface: high pressure can damage soft wood, paint, mortar and some siding. Start with a wider nozzle and keep a distance.
  • Water supply: you'll need a tap and a garden hose connection with enough flow for 1.76 GPM.
  • Power: a 1500 W machine draws a fair share of a household circuit. Use a suitable outdoor outlet and follow the manual if you need an extension cord.
  • Reach: measure the distance from your tap and outlet to the furthest area you want to clean.
  • What's in the box: one washer, four spray nozzles plus the turbo nozzle, a cleaning tool, spray lance, trigger gun and detergent bottle.
  • Upkeep: check the manual on winter storage and draining the pump to protect it from frost.
