Sun Joe SPX3000 Electric Pressure Washer: 2030 PSI specs and who it suits

The Sun Joe SPX3000 is a corded electric pressure washer for home jobs: cars, decks, fences, patios, driveways, RVs and outdoor furniture. It is light enough to roll around a yard and runs from a garden hose.

What 2030 PSI and 1.2 GPM mean

PSI is pressure, the force of the water against a surface. GPM is flow, the amount of water delivered each minute. Pressure loosens dirt, while flow carries it away. Sun Joe rates the SPX3000 at 2030 PSI and 1.2 GPM, which is typical for a consumer electric machine and generally suits light to medium cleaning. Five spray tips

Five quick-connect tips are included: 0°, 15°, 25°, 40° and a soap tip. The narrower the angle, the more concentrated the jet. A 0° pencil jet is the strongest and can damage wood, paint and soft surfaces. The 40° fan is gentler and fits washing vehicles or delicate areas. The soap tip applies detergent at lower pressure.

Two detergent tanks

Two removable onboard tanks, 0.9 L each, can hold two different detergents, such as a car wash and a deck cleaner. A selection dial switches between them, so there's no stopping to refill a single tank when the job changes. Use only detergents approved for pressure washers, as the manual describes.

Build and reach

Sun Joe lists a 34-inch stainless steel lance with brass fittings and metal connections, a 20 ft high-pressure hose and a 35 ft power cord with GFCI protection. The long cord and hose give a working radius of several metres from the outlet. A garden hose adapter is in the box, as is a needle tool for clearing a blocked nozzle.

The Total Stop System turns the pump off when the trigger is released, which Sun Joe says saves energy and extends pump life.

Size and weight

The washer weighs 24.3 lb (about 11 kg) and has rear wheels. Its dimensions are about 19.5 x 15 x 22 inches (50 x 38 x 56 cm). The brand lists CSA approval and a two-year warranty.

It suits homeowners and renters with an outdoor tap who want a washer for seasonal cleaning and vehicle washing, and who prefer electric to gas: quieter, no fuel and no engine upkeep. Anyone cleaning large areas regularly may want a more powerful machine.
