The Soundcore Boom 2 Plus (model A3134) is a large portable Bluetooth speaker made for outdoor listening: beaches, pool decks, campsites and backyards. It combines high output, waterproofing and a battery that can also charge a phone.
What 140W actually means
Soundcore says the speaker produces up to 140W with its BassUp 2.0 feature, up from 100W without it. Wattage on speakers is a measure of amplifier output, not loudness. How loud and clean a speaker sounds depends on its drivers, its enclosure and the tuning, and a figure like "max" is typically a peak figure.
Driver layout
Soundcore calls the layout 2+2 stereo: two 50W woofers and two 20W tweeters, with a crossover that divides frequencies between them. Woofers handle low notes, tweeters the high ones, and the crossover keeps each driver within its range. The brand says this gives deep bass with clear highs. The speaker is large at 9 x 5.9 x 17.4 inches and weighs 8.4 lb (about 3.8 kg), which fits the extra room those drivers need.
Battery and power bank
With a 30W charger, Soundcore says a full charge takes about 3 hours and gives roughly 20 hours of playback. Runtime changes with volume and content, and loud, bass-heavy playback tends to shorten it.
A built-in power bank outputs 10W, which is enough to top up a phone or other small devices. Using it drains the speaker's own battery, so it is a good fit for an emergency top-up.
Water resistance
The speaker is IPX7 and is designed to float. IPX7 means protection against immersion in water, typically up to one metre for 30 minutes, under test conditions. It does not mean the speaker is meant for salt water or constant dunking, so follow the manual on ports, covers and rinsing.
Sound control and linking
A customisable pro EQ in the app lets you adjust the sound. Auracast, a Bluetooth broadcast feature, lets several compatible speakers be linked to fill a larger space. Both depend on the app and on other speakers that support the same feature.
Who it suits
It suits people who want a loud, portable speaker for gatherings outdoors, near water, or anywhere without a power outlet. If you're listening quietly at a desk, a smaller speaker is easier to place.
