The VEVOR Y1 is a countertop hot water dispenser that heats water to a chosen temperature and dispenses a set amount. It saves waiting for a kettle to boil, and it suits tea, coffee, oatmeal and other hot drinks and meals. It needs no plumbing, because the water comes from a removable tank.
Six temperatures for different drinks
The Y1 offers six presets: 77°F, 113°F, 131°F, 149°F, 185°F and 212°F (25°C, 45°C, 55°C, 65°C, 85°C and 100°C). Different drinks typically call for different temperatures. Delicate green teas are often brewed cooler than black tea or coffee, while the 212°F setting is boiling at sea level. VEVOR also lists baby formula as a use. For anything involving infants, follow the formula maker's and your health provider's guidance on water temperature.
Seven water volumes
You can pick from 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 or 18 oz (roughly 180 to 530 ml). That spans a small cup up to a large mug. Choosing a volume means the machine dispenses the amount and stops, instead of you watching the cup.
The 101 oz removable tank
The detachable tank holds 101 oz, about 3 litres. It lifts off for filling at the sink and for cleaning, and the transparent walls let you see the level. VEVOR says it's sized for a whole household's needs. Since the machine heats from the tank, the water you put in is the water you get, so many people use filtered water. Regular descaling is typically advised wherever the water is hard, so check the manual for the maker's method.
Touchscreen and child lock
VEVOR describes a coloured LED display that shows temperature and volume, with touch controls. A child lock is included to prevent accidental dispensing of hot water. The brand says the body and frame are food-grade ABS, BPA-free, and that the internal heating part is food-grade 304 stainless steel. Treat any child lock as one layer of care. Hot water can scald, so keep the unit out of small children's reach.
Size and placement
The unit measures 10.6 x 7.9 x 13.4 inches (about 27 x 20 x 34 cm) and weighs 3.6 lb (1.6 kg) empty. It's compact for a countertop appliance, but it needs a spot near an outlet with room for the tank to be lifted out, and clearance above and around it as the manual describes.
Who it suits
It suits households that make several hot drinks a day, offices and shared kitchens, and anyone who wants a quick, repeatable cup without watching a kettle. It's a smaller, simpler thing than a plumbed-in hot tap.
What to check before you buy
- Power needs: check the rated wattage and make sure your outlet and circuit suit it.
- Counter space: allow for the tank to lift out and for steam to disperse.
- Volumes: the largest listed dispense is 18 oz, so check that it fits the mugs you use.
- Upkeep: find out how descaling and tank cleaning work and how often they're advised.
- Safety: confirm the child lock suits your household and follow the manual on hot water.
