The VEVOR FJI-POR-70S2 is a compact electric water heater with an 18-gallon (70-litre) tank and a 1.6kW heating element. Although the listing calls it "instant" and "tankless", it stores hot water in a tank, so it works as a small storage heater. It is aimed at kitchens, bathrooms and light commercial settings that need a modest, convenient supply of hot water.

Storage tank and 1.6kW element

A storage heater warms a tank of water and holds it hot until needed. At 70L, VEVOR says the capacity covers family needs such as dishwashing and laundry. In general, a 1.6kW element heats more slowly than the larger elements in big household tanks, so the first heat-up takes longer. Once hot, the insulation does the work of keeping it that way. How many showers or washes you get from the tank depends on the temperature you set, the incoming water temperature and how much cold water is mixed in.

Temperature control and display

An LED display shows the heating status, and a rotary knob sets the temperature from 30°C to 75°C (86°F to 167°F). VEVOR says the heater can reach 167°F / 75°C. Water at the upper end of that range is hot enough to scald, so a lower setting or a mixing valve is typical for taps and showers. Follow the manual on safe settings.

Immersion heating element

VEVOR describes an extended immersion heating element, meaning the heating element sits inside the water, which transfers heat efficiently. The brand says it supports continuous hot water delivery over 24 hours.

Tank, coating and insulation

The inner tank is described as corrosion-resistant with an enamel glass coating, which VEVOR says protects against leaks and other hazards. The outer shell is a high-pressure metal case. Between them is a 20mm layer of HFO foam insulation, which VEVOR says holds heat for up to 24 hours. Insulation matters because it slows the heat loss that occurs while water sits in the tank.

Water protection and connections

The heater is rated IPX4, meaning it is protected against splashing water from any direction, which suits bathroom settings away from direct spray. It uses side connections. Plumbing and electrical installation should follow local codes, and for fixed wiring or a pressure-relief arrangement, a qualified installer is the usual route. Always follow the manual.

Size and weight

The unit measures 16.1 x 16.1 x 30.7 inches and weighs 53 lb empty, according to the listing. When full, an 18-gallon tank adds around 150 lb of water (18 US gallons weigh roughly 150 lb), so the mounting wall or floor must support it.

Who it suits

It suits small apartments, secondary bathrooms, workshops, kitchens, cabins or other places where a small, local hot water supply is useful. VEVOR also lists airports and shopping malls. It is less suited to a whole house with several showers used at once.

What to check before you buy

  • Electrical supply: check the voltage, circuit and wiring needed for the 1.6kW element.
  • Mounting: confirm the wall or floor can carry the weight of the full tank.
  • Space: allow for the 16.1-inch width and 30.7-inch height, plus room for pipework.
  • Water pressure and fittings: check the connection types and pressure limits in the manual.
  • Safety: follow local codes, and use a qualified installer for wiring and plumbing.
  • Upkeep: check the manual on draining the tank and servicing.
