The VEVOR FD-66 is a half-size countertop convection oven with a 60 quart (66 litre) chamber. Its fan moves hot air around four rack levels, so it can bake several trays at once. VEVOR designs it for home kitchens as well as small food businesses.
What a convection oven does differently
A convection oven has a fan that circulates hot air through the chamber. This usually evens out temperatures and can shorten cooking times compared with a still-air oven. VEVOR describes the 1800W heating element and fan as spreading heat evenly and baking quickly. Because the air moves, many recipes call for a slightly lower temperature, so check the manual.
Space inside
The interior measures 18.5 x 15.4 x 14.2 inches (47 x 39 x 36 cm), which VEVOR gives as 2.33 cubic feet. There are four levels, and each of the four wire racks measures 18.1 x 13.0 inches. A tray that size is close to a half-size sheet pan, but check the size of your own pans against the interior dimensions.
Controls
Two knobs set the temperature and the time. The temperature range is 150 to 500°F (65 to 250°C), and the timer runs from 0 to 120 minutes. Over-temperature protection is built in, and the oven has an interior light.
Construction
The body is stainless steel inside and out. The door has two panes of tempered glass, so you can check on food without opening it, and a magnetic sealing strip is meant to cut heat loss. The handle is made of aluminium alloy and described as cool-touch. Four feet raise the unit slightly, and air vents let heat escape.
What's in the box
The oven comes with four wire racks, a food tray, a bread clip, heat-resistant gloves and a user manual.
Size, weight and power
Outside, it measures 22.8 x 21.7 x 19.7 inches (58 x 55 x 50 cm) and weighs 52 lb (about 23.6 kg). It runs on 120V at 60Hz and draws 1800W, which is about 15 amps. That uses most of a typical household circuit, so avoid running another heavy appliance on the same one.
Who it suits
VEVOR lists use at home and at concession stands, snack bars, restaurants and caterers, for foods like pizza, bread, muffins, pastries, cookies, fries and chicken. It also suits households that want a second oven, and anyone who wants to bake several trays at once without turning on a full-size range.
What to check before you buy
- Counter space: allow for the 22.8-inch width and room behind and above for airflow, as the manual describes.
- Power: confirm the outlet and circuit can handle 1800W.
- Pan fit: compare your trays with the 18.5 x 15.4 inch interior.
- Weight: at 52 lb, check the counter or stand can hold it.
- Cleaning: check the manual on cleaning the glass and the racks.
- Noise and heat: the sides and top get hot; leave clearance from walls and cabinets.
