The VEVOR Bottled Water Dispenser Pump System is an electric pump built for 5-gallon water jugs. It draws water from the jug through a single inlet tube and delivers it under pressure, so a tap or an appliance can be supplied without lifting and tipping the jug. Here is how it works and what it connects to.
What the pump does
The pump is powered through a power cord and has one inlet pipe. VEVOR describes it as a single-tube system designed for 5-gallon bottled water. The water is not included. Once connected, opening a connected faucet starts the flow, so you do not have to switch the pump on and off by hand.
Pressure and flow
VEVOR gives a working pressure range of 40 to 60 PSI (2.8 to 4.1 bar) and an outlet flow rate of 0.67GPM (2.5 litres per minute). In practical terms, that is enough to fill a glass or kettle quickly, though it is a modest flow compared with a mains tap. Pressure of this range is typical for supplying small appliances.
Dual switch protection
Two switches work together:
- Buoyancy switch: detects the water level and stops the pump when the jug is empty, which keeps the pump from running dry.
- Water pressure switch: lets the system supply water automatically when the faucet is opened.
Running a pump dry is a common cause of damage, so a level switch is a useful feature in a jug-fed design.
What it can supply
VEVOR lists faucets, refrigerators, ice makers and coffee or tea machines as compatible uses. That makes it a way to feed an appliance's water line from a jug where there is no mains plumbing, such as in an office corner, workshop or cabin. Check each appliance's manual for its fittings and pressure needs.
Noise and size
The unit has four shock-absorbing pads, which VEVOR says reduce noise during operation. Pumps vibrate when running, so placing it on a stable, level surface helps. It measures about 7.5 x 5.5 x 3.0 inches (19 x 14 x 7.6 cm) and weighs 5.5 lb (about 2.5 kg).
Who it suits
It suits households and small offices that use 5-gallon jugs and want an easier setup than a gravity-fed dispenser, or want to connect a fridge or coffee machine to a jug.
What to check before you buy
- Jug type: confirm your jugs are 5-gallon and the inlet tube suits them.
- Appliance fittings: check connectors and tubing for your faucet, fridge or ice maker.
- Power outlet: you need an outlet near the pump, kept away from water splashes.
- Water supply: the jug is not included, so plan how you will replace empties.
- Upkeep: check the manual on cleaning and replacing tubing.
