The VEVOR D15-14VA is a small electric storage water heater. It holds four gallons (about 15 litres) and is meant to sit close to a tap, for example under a kitchen sink or in a small bathroom, so hot water arrives quickly without waiting for the main heater's supply to travel through the pipes.
How a mini-tank heater works
A mini-tank keeps a small volume of water hot in an insulated tank, then tops it up as you draw from it. It is a point-of-use solution: you install it near the place where you need hot water, and it supplements, or in some cases replaces, a long run from a central heater. VEVOR says that placing it under the sink cuts the wait for hot water and so saves water that would otherwise run down the drain.
Capacity, power and temperature
The tank holds four gallons and the heating element is rated at 1440W. VEVOR says it heats the water to the set temperature in about 8 to 15 minutes, up to a maximum of 145°F (62.8°C). A knob adjusts the temperature, and LED lights show the temperature status. At 1440W, the unit draws roughly 12 amps on a 120-volt supply, so check the circuit it will share.
Four gallons is enough for hand washing, rinsing dishes and similar short draws. It is not designed to supply a shower. When the tank empties, the water coming out cools until the heater catches up.
Construction
The inner tank is 310S stainless steel, which VEVOR says resists corrosion, and a polyurethane insulation layer helps the water hold its heat. VEVOR also says the heater can deliver hot water continuously for 24 hours, in the sense that it keeps reheating as you use it.
Safety valve
A temperature pressure safety valve sits on top. It is designed to release if temperature or pressure goes too high, and VEVOR lists it as protection against scalding, leaks and other risks. As with any water heater, a safety valve needs a clear path for discharge and should be left unblocked. Follow your local plumbing and electrical codes and the manual.
Mounting and plumbing
The unit measures 15.7 x 15.7 x 12.5 inches and weighs 21.3 lb empty. It can sit on a shelf or hang on a wall with the inlet and outlet facing up. VEVOR notes that it must be secured to the wall with matching expansion bolts and cannot simply hang from the water connection. A full tank adds considerable weight, so the wall or shelf must be able to carry it.
Who it suits
It suits small kitchens, bathrooms, workshops, cafés and restaurant prep sinks that need quick hot water at one tap. It is less suited to whole-home use or to several fixtures at once. Because it must be wired and plumbed, many people have a qualified electrician or plumber install it.
What to check before you buy
- Space: check the cabinet or wall area against 15.7 x 15.7 x 12.5 inches, and the clearance for the inlet and outlet.
- Electrical supply: confirm voltage, outlet or hard-wiring needs and the capacity of the circuit.
- Support: make sure the wall or shelf can hold the unit when full.
- Plumbing fittings: check the connection types and the routing of the safety valve discharge.
- Water temperature: the maximum is 145°F, so check it suits the task.
- Local rules: confirm what your area requires for installation.
