The VEVOR AMG199-180 is an electric meat grinder for home kitchens. It minces meat for burgers, sausages and sauces, and it comes with the plates and tubes needed to change the texture or stuff sausages. If you like to control the grind and the cut of meat yourself, it is the kind of appliance that makes that practical.

Motor and capacity

VEVOR gives the motor as 700W (0.77 HP) with a pure copper winding, and a maximum of 1800W. The brand says it processes up to 5 lb of meat per minute. A three-stage spiral mincing auger pulls the meat toward a stainless steel blade, which cuts against the grinding plate. VEVOR says this gives a smooth grind with a tender, springy texture.

The "#8" in the name refers to the size of the grinding head. It is a common size, which in general means many #8 plates and accessories use the same dimensions, though you should check any spare parts against the model.

Plates and the grind you get

Three plates are included: 3 mm fine, 5 mm medium and 8 mm coarse. The number is the diameter of the holes. Fine plates give a smoother texture suited to sausage mixtures and meatballs. Medium is a common choice for burgers and everyday mince. Coarse suits chunkier textures for chilli or rustic sausages. A cross blade comes pre-installed.

Sausages and kubbe

The kit adds three stuffing tubes of 0.3 in (8 mm), 0.4 in (10 mm) and 0.78 in (20 mm), plus a kubbe kit and a meat pusher. The tubes let you fill casings of different widths, and the kubbe attachment shapes the hollow shells used for the Middle Eastern dish of that name. VEVOR also lists patties, Bolognese and homemade dishes as uses.

What it can grind

According to the listing, it handles chicken, pork, beef and fish, along with vegetables and chilli peppers. It is not suitable for bones or frozen meat. Partly chilled meat usually grinds better than warm meat, and cutting it into strips that fit the feed tube helps.

Locking head, reverse and certification

A locking knob holds the grinding head in place. If the machine clogs, a reverse button runs the auger backwards to clear the jam. The grinder is ETL listed, which is a certification mark indicating the product has been tested against a recognised standard. As with any mains appliance, follow the manual, unplug the unit before changing parts, and keep fingers out of the feed tube.

Cleaning

The housing is metal. VEVOR says the stainless steel blade, plates and plastic parts are dishwasher-safe, but the aluminium alloy parts should be washed by hand, not put in the dishwasher, and then wiped dry with a soft cloth. Drying promptly matters for the plates and blade, which can rust or dull if left damp.

Who it suits

It suits home cooks who make their own burgers, sausages or minced meat, people who want to control what goes into pet or baby food, and anyone who cooks Middle Eastern kubbe at home. It measures 11.4 x 7.7 x 14.0 inches and weighs 12.1 lb, so it fits on a counter and can be stored away.

What to check before you buy

  • Counter and storage space: it is about 14 inches tall.
  • Cleaning routine: note which parts are hand-wash only.
  • Meat preparation: no bones and no frozen meat.
  • Sausage casings: pick casing sizes that match the three tubes.
  • Power: confirm the outlet suits a 700W appliance.
  • Local standards: check the ETL mark meets your requirements.
