The Rojeco PTM-30A3 is a 2-in-1 set that pairs an automatic dry-food feeder with a gravity water dispenser. It is intended for cats, kittens, puppies and small dogs, and it is designed to keep food and water available when you are away for a day or a short trip. Here is what each part does.

The feeder: portions and schedules

The food tank holds 5 litres, which Rojeco rates at 36 cups (8.5 L in total for food and water together). You can set one to six meals a day and from one to 36 portions per meal, with each portion between 5 and 10 grams. That makes it possible to set a feeding plan around your pet's usual routine. Portion weight depends on the kibble size and shape, so it is worth testing a few settings and weighing a sample to see what actually comes out. Always follow your vet's advice about how much to feed.

Rojeco says the LED screen flashes a reminder if food gets stuck. This matters because irregular kibble can occasionally jam in any automatic dispenser.

The water dispenser

The 3.5L water tank works on a gravity (siphon) principle: as the pet drinks, water flows from the tank to refill the bowl, so the level stays steady without daily topping up. The tank is transparent, so you can see levels at a glance, and an LED light helps you spot low water at night. The light can be switched off.

The brand says that keeping food and water in separate units stops wet food from spoiling in the feeder, and that 5L of food plus 3.5L of water supports up to 7 days for two cats. Treat that as a best-case figure. For any trip away, test the system beforehand and ask someone to check on your pets, because machines can jam and water or power can run out.

Hygiene and materials

The bowls are stainless steel, and Rojeco says the materials are BPA-free. A sealed roof helps keep food fresh, and the parts are removable for cleaning. A cleaning brush for the water tank is included. Regular washing keeps any feeder pleasant to use.

Power options

It runs on a Type-C power connection or on four AAA batteries (not included). Rojeco says batteries alone can last 90 to 100 days. Having a battery option means feeding continues during a power cut, as long as the batteries are fresh.

Stability and size

The triangular base is meant to resist being knocked over by playful pets. The set measures about 6.5 x 13.0 x 22.6 inches (16.5 x 33 x 57 cm) and weighs 6.6 lb (3 kg) empty, so allow space on the floor.

Who it suits

It suits cat owners with a regular feeding schedule, people who are out for long working days, and households with small dogs or puppies that eat small amounts of dry food. It does not dispense wet food.

What to check before you buy

  • Kibble size: confirm your food is a size the dispenser can handle without jamming.
  • Pet size: the bowls and tank height suit cats and small dogs; larger dogs may need something else.
  • Power: buy four AAA batteries if you want a backup, as none are included.
  • Space: measure the spot where it will stand, and check it is out of direct sunlight.
  • Cleaning: parts need regular washing; check which are removable.
  • Multi-pet homes: the feeder dispenses to one bowl, so it does not control who eats.
