The Roborock Q7 Max is a robot vacuum that can also mop. It maps your home with LiDAR, cleans on a schedule or on command, and can be controlled from an app or by voice with Alexa. It aims to reduce routine floor cleaning, including hair from pets.
Suction and carpet detection
Roborock rates the maximum suction at 4200 Pa. Pascals measure suction pressure, and a higher figure generally means a stronger pull on dust and debris, though brush design and airflow also matter. The robot detects carpet and, per Roborock, raises suction to the maximum automatically.
Vacuuming and mopping together
The Q7 Max can vacuum and mop in one pass. An electronic pump provides 30 water flow levels, so you can reduce moisture for sensitive floors or increase it for tougher ones. Roborock says mopping picks up fine dust that vacuuming alone might miss. The combined unit has a 470 ml dustbin and a 350 ml water tank.
LiDAR navigation and mapping
LiDAR uses a spinning laser to measure distances and build a map. Roborock calls its system PreciSense and says maps can be viewed in 3D, and you can add furniture and flooring types to recreate your home in the app. The brand lists multi-level mapping and No-Go and No-Mop zones, which let you block off areas entirely or keep the mop away from carpets and rugs.
All-rubber floating brush
The main brush is a multi-directional, floating, all-rubber design. Rubber brushes generally resist tangles from long hair and pet hair better than bristles. Roborock says the floating design sits closer to the floor for deeper cleaning.
Runtime
The brand quotes up to 180 minutes per charge, or up to 3,229 square feet (about 300 square metres) of vacuuming area. Actual runtime varies with suction setting and floor type.
Size
The robot measures 14.0 x 14.0 x 4.0 inches (about 36 x 36 x 10 cm) and weighs 8 lb (about 3.6 kg). The 4-inch height is worth checking against furniture clearance.
What to check before you buy
- Furniture clearance: whether it fits under beds and sofas you want cleaned.
- Floor mix: how much carpet and rug you have, and whether you want mopping on hard floors only.
- Home layout: threshold heights, cables and small objects it may catch.
- Upkeep: you empty the bin, refill the water tank and clean the brush and filters yourself.
- Smart home needs: Wi-Fi and the app, plus Alexa if you want voice control.
- Replacement parts: brushes, filters and mop pads wear out over time.
