The PHILIPS GoZero AWP2980 (model AWP2980WH/37) is a 12-cup water filter pitcher with a built-in rechargeable battery. Instead of waiting for water to drip through the filter, it pushes water through on demand. PHILIPS calls it an instant water station. This page explains what its main features mean.
Micro X-Clean Instant filtration
The filter is an activated carbon design. PHILIPS says it filters about four times faster than standard pitchers such as its AWP2900, while still reducing chlorine, microplastics and other contaminants. The brand also notes that activated carbon filters generally do not reduce TDS (total dissolved solids). The description refers to two-stage filtration with an activated carbon fibre filter. Check the packaging and the filter's data sheet for the full list of what it is certified to reduce, including lead and copper mentioned in the listing title.
Battery and double-click dispensing
A built-in rechargeable battery drives the filtering and is charged by USB-C cable, which is included. PHILIPS says a full charge lasts up to 30 days. Water is dispensed with a double click of the button, which the brand says helps prevent accidental spills compared with single-click dispensers.
Capacity and design
The pitcher holds up to 12 cups per refill, which PHILIPS says is twice the AWP2900. It measures about 9.2 x 6.0 x 10.4 inches and weighs 2.0 lb. The compact shape is meant to fit in a fridge door, and the flip-top lid supports one-handed refills. The integrated handle makes it easy to carry.
Filter life and monitoring
A usage-based monitor calculates the volume filtered from working time and filtration speed, and a filter lifetime indicator signals when to replace the filter. PHILIPS states that one filter lasts for 60 gallons and says each filter replaces more than 450 single-use bottles (based on 16.9 oz bottles). Filter replacement matters because carbon filters are only effective for their rated life.
Safety and certifications
The listing states it is FDA approved and ETL certified, BPA-free and splash-proof to IPX4. IPX4 typically means it resists splashes from any direction, but it isn't built to be submerged. Follow the manual for cleaning and charging.
Who it suits
It suits households that drink a lot of filtered water, want a pitcher that fits in the fridge door and prefer a faster flow than a gravity-fed pitcher gives. It needs no plumbing or installation.
What to check before you buy
- Your water: check what you want to reduce and compare it with the filter's listed claims and certifications.
- Fridge fit: measure your fridge door shelf or shelf height against the 10.4 in height.
- Charging: you will need a USB-C charger or port.
- Replacement filters: look at the compatible filter model and how often it needs changing.
- Cleaning: check the manual for how to clean the pitcher and lid.
- Capacity: 12 cups is larger than many pitchers, so check that it suits your space.
