The Midea Portable Washing Machine (model MLTW09M1BWW) is a compact top-load washer for homes without a laundry room, such as apartments, dorms and RVs. Its 0.9 cu. ft. stainless steel drum handles small loads, it moves on built-in rollers, and it hooks up with supply hoses and an adapter that come in the box.
What 0.9 cubic feet holds
A capacity of 0.9 cubic feet is about 25 litres of drum space. Full-size top-load washers typically hold several times that, so this machine suits smaller, more frequent loads, such as everyday clothes, or towels and bedding split into batches. Bulky items such as duvets usually need a larger machine.
Washing small loads more often is the normal rhythm with a portable washer. It washes and spins but doesn't dry, so plan for a drying rack or a dryer.
Six programs and three water levels
Six programs cover normal, quick, heavy and baby care washes, plus spin only and drum clean. Three water levels, small, medium and large, let you match the water to the size of each load, and an extra rinse option adds another rinse when you want it. An LED display shows the settings.
A lower water level for a small load avoids filling the drum more than needed, and the quick program suits lightly worn clothes when time is short.
Stainless steel drum and Drum Clean
The rust-proof stainless steel drum has a honeycomb surface that helps prevent snagging. The Drum Clean mode helps remove residue and odours that can build up in any washer over time, especially one that sits closed between uses.
Child lock and soft-close lid
Holding the Water Level and Extra Rinse buttons for three seconds locks the controls, so a cycle can't be changed partway through by a stray press. The glass lid closes softly instead of slamming, and it lets you see the wash in progress.
Size, moving and hookup
The washer measures about 16.9 x 17.7 x 30.9 inches (roughly 43 x 45 x 78 cm), so it stands about 31 inches tall on a footprint of about 17 by 18 inches. Built-in side handles and bottom rollers let one person move it, and it fits smaller spaces such as a bathroom or a balcony.
Water supply hoses and a quick-connect adapter come in the box. The adapter typically attaches to a sink tap, and the drain hose can go over the edge of a sink, into a laundry tub or into a standpipe. Before you set up, check where the drain hose will go and that there's an outlet within reach of the power cord.
The washer is DOE certified, meaning it's certified as meeting the US Department of Energy's efficiency standards for washers.
Who it suits
It suits renters, students and RV owners who want to wash at home without a full-size machine or a dedicated laundry hookup, and anyone with a small space and small, frequent loads.
What to check before you buy
- Space: measure the spot, including height for opening the top lid and room to roll it out.
- Your tap: confirm the quick-connect adapter fits your faucet; some faucets, such as many pull-out styles, don't take one.
- Drainage: a sink, laundry tub or standpipe within reach of the drain hose.
- Load size: 0.9 cu. ft. suits small loads; larger items need a bigger machine.
- Drying: it washes and spins only, so plan for drying.
