The Garvee 12,000 BTU Mini Split is a ductless inverter air conditioner with a heat pump, so one system both cools and heats. It is designed for a single room or open area of up to about 750 square feet. Here is what its headline specs mean and what installation involves.
How a ductless heat pump works
A mini split has two parts: an indoor unit that blows air into the room and an outdoor unit that moves heat. Refrigerant lines connect them. In cooling mode, heat is taken from the room and released outside. In heating mode the process runs in reverse. Because no ducts are needed, mini splits are typically used for additions, garages, converted spaces and rooms that have no ductwork.
Garvee lists four modes: Cooling, Heating, Dry and Fan-Only, with a four-way swing to spread the airflow. It quotes 12,000 BTU for cooling and 12,300 BTU for turbo heating, and a comfort range of 60 to 90 °F.
What the inverter does
A traditional air conditioner switches its compressor fully on and off. An inverter varies the compressor speed to hold the temperature steadily, which usually means fewer swings and less start-up load. Garvee describes an AI-driven vector inverter that holds the setpoint to within ±0.18 °F and says it cuts energy use by more than 25%. Those are the brand's figures; real results depend on the room, insulation and climate.
Reading 19 SEER2
SEER2 is a seasonal efficiency measure used in North America. Higher numbers mean more cooling output for each unit of electricity used over a typical season, measured under the updated test conditions. Garvee lists 19 SEER2 and says the unit is ETL and AHRI certified. Garvee also says it outperforms conventional units by more than 35%.
Sound levels
The listing gives noise from 41 dB in Turbo mode down to 23 dB in Sleep mode, with dual-layer acoustic insulation. For comparison, a quiet library is often quoted at around 30 to 40 dB. These figures are for the indoor unit, and the outdoor unit makes its own noise, so think about where it will sit.
Size, weight and installation
The listing gives the dimensions as 33.9 x 21.4 x 13.3 inches and the weight as 77.2 lb. Garvee says the outdoor unit is 23% smaller than standard models, which can help on a tight balcony or rooftop. It requires a 230V supply, and Garvee states that professional installation is required. In practice that means a licensed installer for the refrigerant lines, the electrical connection and the condensate drain, in line with local codes and the manual.
The system ships in two packages that may arrive separately.
Warranty and support
Garvee lists a five-year manufacturer's warranty covering shipping damage, normal-use part failures and functional defects. For parts, troubleshooting and installation guidance, it asks owners to contact its customer service team first.
Who it suits
It suits a bedroom, an office, a workshop, a sunroom or a small apartment that needs year-round control without ducts, and buyers who have a 230V circuit available or can have one added.
What to check before you buy
- Room size: 750 sq ft is a maximum for typical conditions; ceiling height, windows and sun exposure change the load.
- Electrical: confirm the 230V circuit, breaker size and wiring with an electrician.
- Installer: line up a qualified installer, and check whether permits are needed locally.
- Outdoor unit: choose a spot with clearance for airflow, drainage and service access.
- Cold climates: check the manual for the heating operating range.
- Delivery: the two packages may arrive on different days.
