The Frizzlife SK99 is an under-sink water filter that connects directly to your cold water line and delivers filtered water through its own dedicated tap. It is designed to be fitted in the cabinet under a kitchen sink, with filtering cartridges that you replace instead of the whole housing. Here is how it works and what to check before fitting one.

What the certification says

Frizzlife states that the SK99 is certified by IAPMO against NSF/ANSI 42 and 53. Standard 42 covers aesthetic effects such as chlorine, taste and odour, while Standard 53 covers health-related contaminants, with lead among those listed. The brand says testing covered material safety, structural integrity, flow rate and filtration effectiveness. Certification applies only to the specific claims on the product's performance data sheet, so read that sheet for exactly what the system is certified to reduce. Water quality varies by home, and a filter does not replace the advice of your local water supplier.

0.5 micron carbon block

The cartridges use a carbon block with 0.5 micron filtration accuracy, built from eight layers of filtration material, according to Frizzlife. A micron is one-thousandth of a millimetre, so a smaller figure means finer particles are caught. Activated carbon is commonly used to reduce chlorine, odour and taste. The brand says the system reduces lead, chlorine, taste, odour and particulates, and that it leaves in beneficial minerals. The listing's title also mentions chloramine and fluoride, so check the data sheet before assuming the system covers them.

Flow and installation

Frizzlife says the filter can fill a cup in around three seconds and that installation takes under 15 minutes without a plumber. Its "direct connect" design aims to keep the plumbing simple, and a pressure regulator has been added as a safeguard. The brand quotes its capacity based on internal testing only. If you are not comfortable with plumbing work, hire a professional, and follow local plumbing codes and the manual.

Twist-in cartridge changes

Cartridges lock in with a twist, so changing them does not require special tools. Only the inner filter is swapped; the plastic housing stays. Frizzlife lists replacement filters as M3001, M3002 and M3003, and the filter set as M3005. Filters wear out with use, so keep a note of when you changed them and follow the replacement intervals in the manual.

Fridge connection

According to the brand, the SK99 can also supply a refrigerator with an optional ice maker kit, model IMC-2, which is sold separately.

Size and space

The system measures 15 x 5 x 14 inches (about 38 x 13 x 36 cm) and weighs 7.9 lb (3.6 kg). Frizzlife describes the design as compact enough to fit under a sink, but plumbing, garbage disposals and storage bins all compete for that space, so measure first.

Who it suits

It suits households that want filtered water at a dedicated tap and would rather change simple cartridges than carry bottles or use a jug. It suits renters less if they cannot drill a hole for the faucet.

What to check before you buy

  • Cabinet space: measure the width, depth and height available, including room to twist out the cartridges.
  • Faucet hole: check whether your sink or counter has a spare hole for the filter faucet.
  • Water supply: confirm you have a standard cold water line and suitable pressure.
  • Contaminants of concern: compare the certification data sheet with your local water report.
  • Replacement filters: note the model numbers (M3001, M3002, M3003, or the M3005 set).
  • Fridge hookup: the ice maker kit is a separate item.

The short version

  • An under-sink filter with a 0.5 micron carbon block cartridge.
  • Certified by IAPMO to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 as the brand states; read the data sheet for specifics.
  • Direct connect, with an install time of under 15 minutes claimed by Frizzlife.
  • Twist-in cartridges; only the filters are replaced.
  • About 15 x 5 x 14 inches and 7.9 lb.
