The EUHOMY DH-80 is a large dehumidifier built for damp basements, crawl spaces, warehouses and similar spaces. EUHOMY rates it at up to 160 pints of moisture removed per day and for areas up to 7,000 square feet, with a drain hose included and a connection for an external pump.
What "160 pints" means
Dehumidifier capacity is usually quoted in pints of water removed per day, but the test conditions matter. EUHOMY states its 160-pint figure applies at saturation, which it defines as 90°F and 90% humidity. In a typical cool basement, real-world output is generally lower than a figure measured in hot, very humid conditions, so the number is best read as a way to compare size rather than a daily guarantee.
The brand also lists 237 CFM of airflow. CFM, cubic feet per minute, is how much air passes through the unit, and more airflow generally means the room's air is cycled through the coil more often.
Three working modes
- Automatic: humidity can be set from 20% to 90%, and the unit cycles to hold it.
- Continuous: the dehumidifier runs all the time.
- Sleep: the display switches off after ten seconds without input and lights again when touched.
A timer on and off function and automatic defrost are also listed. Defrost matters in cool spaces, where the coil can ice up.
Draining the water
There are two ways to empty it. With gravity drainage, the included internal drain hose runs to a drain that sits lower than the unit's drainage port. With pump drainage, the hose connects to an external pump that moves water uphill or farther away. The package does not include a pump, and EUHOMY notes that one is bought separately. Continuous drainage means you do not have to empty a bucket.
Handling and filter
The unit measures 15.2 x 23.2 x 15.6 inches and has handrails on both sides to help you carry it between spaces. A filter cleans the air going into the unit, and EUHOMY says to clean it every one to two weeks, because a blocked filter reduces dehumidifying efficiency. Disconnect the power before cleaning.
Who it suits
It suits larger or persistently damp spaces such as basements, crawl spaces, archives and storage rooms, where a small bucket-style unit may be too small.
What to check before you buy
- Space: compare the 7,000 sq ft coverage figure with your real area, and the test conditions it is quoted at with your own.
- Drainage: confirm a drain lower than the unit's port, or buy a compatible pump.
- Power: check the electrical requirements in the manual and the outlet you plan to use.
- Noise: look up the noise level in the manual if it will run near living areas.
- Upkeep: plan for regular filter cleaning.
- Placement: leave space around the unit for airflow and follow the manual.
