The WOLFBOX G930 is a dash cam built into a rearview mirror. It records the road ahead and behind, shows the rear camera's view on a 10-inch touchscreen, and saves footage to a memory card. This guide explains the main features and what to check before fitting one.

Front and rear recording

WOLFBOX lists 4K resolution for the front camera and 1080P for the rear. Higher resolution generally means finer detail when you pause a clip, such as the lettering on a sign, though real-world clarity also depends on the lens, the sensor and the light. You can slide the screen up and down to change the viewing angle, and swipe left or right to switch between a front-and-rear split view and the rear view alone.

Mirror screen and glare

A screen mirror replaces the usual view with a live image from the rear camera. WOLFBOX says this gives a wider field of view than a conventional mirror, which can be helpful when the back window is blocked by passengers or luggage. The company also says the LCD has low reflectivity to reduce glare in bright daylight. Many drivers need a short time to adjust to a screen mirror, since the image sits at a different focus distance than a normal mirror.

WDR and low-light performance

WDR stands for wide dynamic range. It balances bright and dark parts of a scene, for example when leaving a tunnel or driving toward low sun. WOLFBOX pairs WDR with a six-glass lens and says the rear camera has been upgraded from AHD to a WDR sensor for better low-light images. Night footage from any dash cam depends on street lighting and conditions, so treat the brand's claims as a guide.

5.8GHz WiFi and the app

The G930 connects to a phone through the WOLFBOX app over 5.8GHz WiFi. Compared with the older 2.4GHz band, 5GHz connections are typically faster, which matters when transferring large 4K files. The app lets you download and share clips without removing the memory card.

GPS, loop recording and G-sensor

  • GPS: with the GPS receiver plugged in, the screen shows speed and direction, and recorded clips carry location data that can be viewed in the GPS Player.
  • Loop recording: the camera records in segments of 1, 2 or 3 minutes and overwrites the oldest footage when the card is full.
  • G-sensor: if it detects a collision, it locks the current clip so it will not be overwritten.

Card and parking monitoring

A 64GB memory card is included. WOLFBOX notes that a separate hardware kit is needed if you want the 24-hour parking monitoring feature, since that mode needs a continuous power supply wired to the car. Higher-resolution recording uses more space, so a 64GB card holds a limited amount of footage before it begins overwriting.

Size and who it suits

The unit measures about 4.7 x 13.4 x 3.0 inches (12 x 34 x 7.6 cm) and weighs 0.7 lb (about 320 g). It suits drivers who want front and rear recording in one device and prefer a mirror unit to a camera stuck to the windscreen. Some people like that it keeps the windscreen clear. WOLFBOX offers technical help by phone and email at any hour.

What to check before you buy

  • Fit: confirm the mirror's width suits your vehicle's existing rearview mirror and that it attaches securely.
  • Rear camera cable: check the cable length reaches your rear window or tailgate.
  • Power: see whether you need a hardwire kit for parking mode, and how it connects to your fuse box.
  • Local rules: check local rules on recording, on windscreen-mounted devices and on sharing footage.
  • Memory card: follow the manual on formatting and replacing cards.
  • Installation: follow the manual, or ask a professional if you are unsure about wiring.

The short version

  • A 10-inch touchscreen mirror dash cam with 4K front and 1080P rear cameras.
  • WDR imaging and a six-glass lens, plus low-reflectivity screen.
  • 5.8GHz WiFi with the WOLFBOX app for downloading clips.
  • GPS, loop recording and a G-sensor that locks collision clips.
  • 64GB card included; parking monitoring needs a separate hardware kit.
