The VEVOR ZSY01-2 is a portable electric hydraulic jack that runs from a vehicle's 12V supply. It has a 5-ton (11,023 lb) capacity, a built-in tire inflator and an LED light. It is intended for roadside tyre changes and garage jobs where pumping a manual jack is a chore.

Lifting range and speed

The jack lifts from 6.1 inches (155 mm) to 17.7 inches (450 mm). VEVOR says it reaches maximum height in about two minutes and stops automatically there. Starting height matters: a low-slung car needs a jack that fits under its jacking point, so compare 6.1 inches with your vehicle's clearance. VEVOR lists autos, sedans, SUVs, trucks and other vehicles within the capacity, and says it must be used on flat surfaces.

Power source

It runs from a 12V cigarette lighter socket or directly from a car battery, using a 13-foot (about 4 m) power cord, long enough to reach from the socket to a wheel on most vehicles. Three spare fuses, described as TUV and UL certified, are included.

The built-in inflator

A tire inflator is built in, with hidden compartments for the air hose and needles and a pressure display so you can watch the reading as you pump. Check the target pressure on the vehicle's door placard or in its manual, as it varies by model.

Stability and lowering

The support head has a cross-groove design to hold the vehicle securely. VEVOR says the hydraulic system is leak-proof, and the built-in LED helps with nighttime work. A pressure relief valve allows manual lowering, which VEVOR notes works even during power outages.

A jack is only for lifting. Never work under a vehicle supported only by a jack; use properly rated jack stands, chock the wheels, use level ground, and follow the manual and the vehicle maker's jacking points.

Size and weight

The jack measures 15 x 11 x 7.3 inches (about 38 x 28 x 19 cm) and weighs 13.8 lb (about 6.3 kg). That is small enough to keep in a boot or trunk.

Who it suits

It suits drivers who want a compact kit for emergencies and home garage work, and people who find manual jacking tiring.

What to check before you buy

  • Your vehicle's weight: the jack's capacity should comfortably exceed the load it will carry.
  • Clearance: confirm that 6.1 inches fits under your jacking point.
  • Maximum height: check that 17.7 inches reaches the height you need.
  • Power: confirm your 12V socket's amp limit; battery clamps may be an option.
  • Jack stands: these are a separate purchase and essential for any work under a vehicle.
  • Tyre valve type: check that the supplied needles and hose fit what you use.
