The VEVOR ZG-A is a pneumatic floor jack: instead of a hydraulic pump, it lifts with compressed air fed into a rubber airbag. You connect it to an air compressor and open a valve on the handle. VEVOR says it rises in as little as three to five seconds, which is the main reason people choose this type for garage work.

How an air jack works

Air fills a stack of bags, and as they inflate they push the lifting pad upward. The six steel pipes in this model act as a guide structure. VEVOR says they are optimised for height and structure, to add stability and to avoid jams when lifting heavy vehicles. Because the lift comes from air, there is no pumping, but the jack needs a compressor that can supply air at the pressure the manual sets out.

Capacity and lifting range

The jack is rated at 5 tons (11,000 lb). VEVOR names family cars, pickups, micro cars and SUVs as suitable. The lifting height is 5.5 to 18.5 inches (140 to 470 mm). The low starting height is useful for lower cars, but check it against your vehicle's clearance at its lift points. As with any jack, never get under a vehicle supported only by the jack; use properly rated stands and follow the manual.

Handle, casters and valves

The long handle can be set at different angles, and the lifting valves sit on the handle, so you can control the lift while standing back from the vehicle. Two casters make it possible to roll the jack under the vehicle. VEVOR says this reduces strain on your back.

Build

The lifting pad has a thicker, non-slip rubber top that VEVOR says spreads force over a larger contact surface. The airbag has three layers, and the base is treated with an anti-rust electrostatic spray coating. The jack weighs 36 lb (about 16 kg) and measures 15.7 x 9.8 x 18.5 inches (40 x 25 x 47 cm), so it is easy to move around a garage, but heavier than a compact scissor jack.

Who it suits

It suits home garages and workshops that already own an air compressor, and where quick raising for tyre changes or underbody work is useful. It is less convenient on the road, since it needs a compressor.

What to check before you buy

  • Compressor: check the air pressure and flow in the manual, plus the hose and fitting type.
  • Vehicle clearance: confirm the 5.5 inch minimum height and the lift points suit your vehicle.
  • Support stands: a raised vehicle should always rest on jack stands, which are not included.
  • Surface: use it only on a flat, firm floor.
  • Storage and upkeep: check how to keep the airbag and keep it clear of sharp objects and oil.
  • Weight: at 36 lb, make sure you can move it comfortably.

The short version
