The VEVOR EV-B06-US007B is a portable Level 2 charger for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. It plugs into a 240V NEMA 14-50 outlet and delivers up to 32 amps through an SAE J1772 connector. It can stay in the garage on its base or travel in its storage bag.
What Level 2 charging means
Level 1 charging uses an ordinary household socket and is slow. Level 2 uses a 240V supply, typically the kind used by a dryer or range, and usually adds range much faster. VEVOR lists the charger's maximum power as 7.7 kW at 32A, with input of AC 240V at 60 Hz. How quickly a particular car charges also depends on the car's own onboard charger, which can limit the rate.
Plug, connector and compatibility
The wall plug is NEMA 14-50P, a common four-prong 240V plug found on many outlets in North America. The vehicle end is the universal SAE J1772 connector. VEVOR says it suits most electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles that follow the J1772 standard. Cars with other inlet types generally need an adapter, so check your vehicle's inlet.
Adjustable current
The charger offers 16, 20, 24 and 32A settings. Lower settings help when the outlet or circuit cannot supply the full 32A. The right setting depends on what the circuit and wiring are built for, so follow the manual and local electrical codes, and have a qualified electrician check or install the outlet.
Protection features
VEVOR lists lightning, leakage, grounding, over-voltage, under-voltage, overcharge, over-current and overheat protection. The controller adjusts current during charging according to the charging status. Treat these as the brand's stated features, and follow the manual for correct use.
App control and scheduling
A smartphone app lets you monitor and control charging remotely. You can schedule charging for a period of 1 to 12 hours, which some owners use to shift charging to hours their electricity supplier prefers. Check the app's supported phones and setup steps before relying on it.
Cable and weather protection
The cable is 28 ft (8.6 m) long, with copper conductors and a thickened TPE flame-retardant jacket. VEVOR rates the cable IP66 for dust and water and says it handles temperatures from -30°C to 45°C. A long cable helps when the outlet and the car's charging port are far apart.
What is in the box
The package holds a hard-shell storage bag, a base, a cable hook and a user manual. The base and holder let you fix the unit as a garage station, and the bag makes it easy to take along. The charger weighs 9.5 lb (4.3 kg).
Who it suits
It suits drivers who have a 14-50 outlet at home, or access to one elsewhere, and want a charger they can move between locations. It is less suited to anyone without a suitable 240V outlet.
What to check before you buy
- Outlet: confirm you have a properly installed NEMA 14-50 outlet and that its circuit can support your chosen current.
- Vehicle inlet: check that your car uses J1772.
- Onboard charger: your car's own limit may be below 7.7 kW.
- Cable reach: measure from the outlet to your charging port.
- App: check that your phone and home Wi-Fi work with it.
- Installation: use a qualified electrician for new wiring and follow local codes and the manual.
