The VEVOR XMZ-TB20 Pro is an 8KW diesel heater built for vehicles and small spaces such as vans, RVs, trucks, tents and garages. It is an all-in-one unit with a 1.3-gallon fuel tank, and it can be controlled by remote, LCD screen or a Bluetooth phone app. This page explains what its specs mean and what to check.
How a diesel heater works
A diesel heater burns a small amount of fuel in a sealed combustion chamber and passes air over a heat exchanger. Exhaust gases are vented outside through a pipe, and the heated air goes into the space. Because the fuel is burned in a sealed chamber, the heater typically draws little power once running, which is why these are popular in campers and vans.
Heat output and power
VEVOR rates the heater at 8KW and says it suits spaces of 108-161 square feet (about 10-15 square metres). It lists a rise to 210°F in 5 minutes and a comfortable vehicle interior in 10 minutes. These are brand figures, and actual results depend on insulation, outside temperature and the size of the space.
It runs on 12V or 24V DC, or from a 110V household outlet. VEVOR also says it can operate below 9,842 feet (about 3,000 metres) of elevation. High-altitude performance of diesel heaters typically changes with thinner air, so check the manual.
Fuel use
The fuel pump is described as quiet and energy-saving. VEVOR gives a consumption range of 0.04-0.1 gallons per hour with over 90% efficiency. The 1.3-gallon tank is designed to heat through a night without refuelling. At the low end of the range that works out to many hours, but at higher settings the tank empties sooner.
Controls
- Bluetooth app: works from up to 98 feet. You can set timers, preheat and adjust the temperature between 46.4°F and 96.8°F.
- Remote control and LCD screen: for operation without a phone.
Safety features
VEVOR lists a carbon monoxide alarm, an exhaust pipe heat sleeve and a sealed fuel cap. The internal board has an overheat shutoff at 518°F or above, reverse polarity protection and overvoltage protection.
A built-in alarm is not a substitute for correct installation. Any combustion heater should follow the manual and local codes. The exhaust must vent outside, away from windows, vents and anything flammable, and it is standard practice to run a separate CO alarm in an occupied vehicle or room. Do not use it in a sealed, unventilated space.
Size and fit
The unit measures about 16.7 x 12.6 x 12.2 inches (42 x 32 x 31 cm) and weighs 23.4 lb (about 10.6 kg). VEVOR lists compatibility with RVs, trucks, SUVs, vans, tents and garages. Plan where the exhaust, fuel line and air intake will run before choosing a location.
Who it suits
It suits van and camper owners, truck drivers and people who heat a workshop or garage and want a fuel-burning heater with app and remote control.
What to check before you buy
- Space: compare your space's size and insulation with the 108-161 sq ft heating range.
- Installation: check where the exhaust, intake and fuel line will go, and follow the manual and local rules.
- Power: confirm your vehicle's 12V or 24V supply, or the 110V outlet you plan to use.
- Fuel: check the fuel type and quality the manual calls for.
- Altitude and temperature: check the limits if you travel high or in very cold places.
- CO safety: use an additional carbon monoxide alarm and keep the area ventilated.
- Upkeep: check the manual on cleaning, fuel filters and storage.
