The VEVOR 8KW Diesel Air Heater is a 12-volt parking heater that burns diesel to warm the cab or cabin of a vehicle without running the engine. It is aimed at cars, buses, RVs, trucks, engineering vehicles and boats, where a cold interior is a daily problem. A remote control with an LCD lets you set it from a distance.
How a diesel air heater works
A diesel air heater draws a small amount of fuel from the vehicle's tank (or a separate tank) with a metering pump, burns it in a sealed combustion chamber, and passes fresh cabin air over the hot chamber walls. The combustion gases leave through a separate exhaust, so they never mix with the air that heats the space. Compared with idling an engine for warmth, a heater like this is designed to use far less fuel for the same job.
VEVOR rates this unit at 8kW (8,000W) on a 12V supply. That is a large output for a heater of this type, so it suits bigger spaces such as a bus cab, a truck sleeper or an RV rather than a small car interior.
The aluminum body and the pump
VEVOR says the combustion chamber, the base and the heat-dissipating fins are sand-blasted aluminum, formed as one piece. The idea is even heat dissipation and quick warm-up. Aluminum conducts heat well and is light, which helps when the unit has to be mounted under a seat or in a locker.
The metering pump is controlled by an ECU that adjusts how often it injects fuel, and it adjusts the intake air with fan speed. VEVOR says this extends the life of the heater and keeps it economical with fuel. In general, finer control of fuel and air also tends to mean steadier combustion.
Noise: fan, pump and muffler
Diesel heaters make two kinds of sound: the clicking of the fuel pump and the rush of air through the fan and exhaust. VEVOR lists a silent fan, a silent pump with improved low-frequency pulses, blower speed control and a muffler to reduce this. Actual noise depends heavily on how and where the heater is mounted, so treat the listing as a design goal rather than a measured figure.
Altitude sensor, display and remote
A built-in altitude sensor lets the heater adjust for thin air, because less oxygen changes the fuel-to-air balance. VEVOR gives the highest working altitude as 5,000 metres. The remote has a stated range of 50 metres, and the LCD shows fault codes, ambient temperature, the set fuel quantity and the set temperature.
Size and where it goes
The unit measures about 13.8 x 5.9 x 16.1 inches (35 x 15 x 41 cm). It needs a mounting spot, a fuel line, an exhaust run to the outside, an air intake and a 12V supply, so installation is a proper project. Follow the manual closely for exhaust routing, clearances and wiring, and follow your local codes and rules for fuel-burning heaters in vehicles and boats.
Who it suits
It suits people who spend nights in a truck, bus, camper or boat, or who start work in a cold cab and want it warm before they get in. It also suits anyone building out a van or RV who wants heat that does not depend on shore power.
What to check before you buy
- Space and output: 8kW is a lot for a small cabin. Think about the volume you want to heat.
- Voltage: this is a 12V unit. Confirm your vehicle or boat supply matches and that the battery and wiring can handle it.
- Fuel supply: you will need diesel from a tank, and a fuel line routed as the manual describes.
- Exhaust and intake: both must run to outside air, away from openings, and be installed as instructed.
- Mounting location: the unit is about 16 inches tall, so check for room and clearance from flammable materials.
- Altitude: if you travel high, note the 5,000 metre limit.
- What's in the box: confirm which fittings, pipes and wiring are included, as installs often need extras.
The short version
- 12V diesel parking heater rated by VEVOR at 8kW (8,000W).
- Aluminum combustion chamber and base, with an ECU-controlled fuel pump.
- Muffler, silent fan and low-frequency pump to reduce noise.
- Altitude sensor up to 5,000 m, and an LCD remote with a 50 m range.
- For cabs, RVs, trucks, buses and boats; install by the manual and local codes.
