The Auxbeam RC800 is an eight-switch control panel for the extra lights and accessories added to a truck, RV, UTV or similar vehicle. It replaces a tangle of separate switches with one panel, and adds a wireless remote that works from inside or outside the vehicle. Here is what its listed features mean.

One panel for up to eight devices

Each of the eight switches controls one circuit, such as a light bar, work light, winch light or compressor. The control box and a solid-state relay system sit away from the panel, so the panel itself only carries the switching signal. Labelled stickers are included to mark what each button does.

The wireless remote

Auxbeam says the remote works up to 165 ft (about 50 m) away and has a built-in magnet, so you can stick it to any metal surface. In practice, wireless range depends on obstacles and interference, so treat the figure as an outdoor maximum. One remote can control up to four vehicles, or four remotes can operate one vehicle, according to the listing. The brand says no app is needed.

Three switch modes

The panel offers three behaviours for each switch:

  • Toggle: press once for on, press again for off.
  • Momentary: the circuit is on only while you hold the button, which is handy for a horn or a spotlight you want to flash.
  • Pulsed: the circuit strobes, useful for work or warning lights where that is allowed.

An RGB mode lets you set the backlight colour, and settings are stored so they return when the panel is switched on again.

Backlight and auto-dimming

A single click turns the backlight off. A built-in light sensor automatically adjusts the brightness to the surroundings, which cuts glare at night while keeping the controls visible in daylight.

Protection and weather resistance

The listing describes solid-state relays and a 60A resettable breaker, intended to protect against reverse polarity, overload and overheating. Silicone covers provide IP65 protection, which generally means dust-tight and protected against water jets, though not submersion. The kit is for 12V and 24V systems.

What is in the kit

Auxbeam lists brackets, waterproof covers, the circuit breaker and labelled stickers, and describes the set as plug-and-play. It lists a three-year warranty and 24/7 support. The panel's listed size is 12.9 x 8.6 x 4.3 inches (about 33 x 22 x 11 cm), which appears to be the packaged dimension.

Who it suits

It suits owners of trucks, RVs, off-road vehicles and UTVs who run several add-on lights or accessories, and anyone who wants to switch something from outside the vehicle. People who want a simple, wired setup with no wireless parts may prefer a plain panel.

What to check before you buy

  • Mounting space: check that the dash or console can fit the panel and its brackets.
  • Total load: add up the draw of every device and compare it with the 60A breaker limit and your wiring.
  • Wire runs: plan cable lengths from the control box to the battery and each device.
  • Remote pairing: think about whether you want the remote to control several vehicles.
  • Manual: follow the wiring diagram, and add proper fusing as the manual says.

The short version

  • An eight-switch 12V/24V panel with a wireless remote rated at up to 165 ft.
  • Toggle, momentary and pulsed modes, RGB backlight, auto-dimming and a backlight-off option.
  • Solid-state relays, a 60A resettable breaker and IP65 silicone covers.
  • One remote can run up to four vehicles, per Auxbeam; no app required.
  • Check the total electrical load and mounting space before installing.
