The Auxbeam AC-1200 is a 12-gang switch panel that puts the controls for a vehicle's extra accessories in one place. Light bars, work lights, a compressor, a winch or marine gear can each get their own button, and the panel can also be operated from a phone app or a remote. Here is what the listing describes and what to check first.

One panel for 12-24V accessories

A "gang" is one switch position, so 12 gangs means 12 separate circuits. Auxbeam says the AC-1200 can manage up to 12 DC 12-24V accessories, with a maximum power of 1200 to 2400W depending on the supply voltage. It is aimed at cars and trucks, and Auxbeam says it works as a switch panel on a boat as well. If you only need a few channels today, the spare ones are there for later additions.

App control over Bluetooth

Beyond the physical buttons, the panel connects to a phone app. According to Auxbeam, you can change the panel colours, adjust brightness, choose from 200 default icons or add your own from a photo album, and group two or more lights so that one tap switches them together. Custom icons are useful when twelve identical buttons would otherwise need labels.

Remote control

A wireless remote is included, so accessories can be switched from inside or outside the vehicle. The remote sticks to metal surfaces, and Auxbeam says it ships with batteries fitted.

Backlight and switch modes

The panel has a mode button that turns the backlight on or off, which helps if the glow is too bright at night. Brightness can be set in the app or left to a built-in light sensor that adjusts it automatically. The RGB backlight can be set to many colours to match a vehicle's interior lighting.

Each switch can be programmed into one of three modes:

  • Toggle: stays on until pressed again, the usual setting for lights.
  • Momentary: works only while the button is held, similar to a horn.
  • Pulsed: a strobe effect.

What is in the box

The listing says the kit includes a circuit box with a built-in solid-state relay, a 100A circuit breaker, fuses, waterproof covers, 120 stickers, mounting brackets and a 20 ft wiring harness. Solid-state relays have no moving contacts, which generally means silent switching. The panel measures 5.5 × 4.0 × 0.6 inches, and Auxbeam lists an operating range of -40 to 221°F and a three-year warranty. It also says the design is covered by a registered U.S. design patent.

What to check before you buy

  • Space: confirm you have room for a 5.5 × 4.0 inch panel in a dash, console or overhead position.
  • Load: add up the current draw of every accessory and compare it with the panel's rated limits and your vehicle's supply.
  • Voltage: the panel is for 12-24V DC systems only.
  • Wiring: a 20 ft harness is supplied, but check the route from the circuit box to each accessory, and the extra wire you may need.
  • Phone support: confirm your phone works with the app before relying on Bluetooth control.
  • Installation: follow the manual and local codes, or use a qualified installer for the wiring.
