The Auxbeam RA80 is an eight-gang switch panel that gathers the controls for extra lights and accessories in one place on the dash. It works with 12-24V systems and uses an RGB backlight so the buttons can match the interior. Unlike some of Auxbeam's panels, it does not use Bluetooth or an app, so everything is done with the buttons.

What eight gangs gives you

Each "gang" is one switch position that controls one circuit. With eight, you could run a light bar, work lights, a fog lamp pair, a compressor and a few other accessories, each on its own button. Auxbeam says the RA80 is universally compatible with 12-24V vehicles including cars, trucks, off-road vehicles, boats, SUVs, pickups and RVs.

Three lighting modes

Every position can be set to one of three modes:

  • Toggle: stays on until you press it again, the usual setting for lights.
  • Momentary: works only while the button is held, which suits something like a horn.
  • Pulsed: a strobe effect.

RGB backlight and dimming

Auxbeam says the backlight comes in a wide range of RGB colours and dims automatically, brighter in daylight and softer at night. The "MODE" button turns the backlight off with one touch, which helps if the glow is distracting on a dark road.

Memory function

The ON/OFF button also acts as a memory control. Auxbeam says pressing it restores the light settings that were active before the panel was switched off, so you don't have to reselect each channel.

Control box and protection

The panel connects to a control box with a one-sided outlet layout, which keeps the output wiring on one face. The box has built-in solid-state relays, meaning there are no moving contacts, and a resettable circuit breaker. Auxbeam lists protection against reverse polarity, overcurrent, overvoltage and overheating. A silicone cover is included to protect the panel from water. A three-year protection plan from Auxbeam is also listed.

No Bluetooth

The listing says plainly that the RA80 does not support Bluetooth app control. If you want phone control, group settings or custom icons, you would need a different model. If you prefer physical buttons and fewer things to configure, that is a simpler arrangement.

What to check before you buy

  • Space: find a mounting spot with room for the panel and a clear route to the control box. Check the listed dimensions before cutting or drilling.
  • Count your accessories: eight positions is the limit, so confirm that is enough.
  • Load: add up the draw of each accessory and compare it with the control box limits in the manual.
  • Voltage: it is made for 12-24V systems only.
  • Wiring: you may need extra wire, connectors or fuses for your layout.
  • Installation: follow the manual and local codes, or use a qualified installer.
