The VEVOR ZX30023 is an under-sink pump system built for places where a drain can't rely on gravity, such as a basement laundry tub or utility sink below the level of the house drain. A 6-gallon basin collects the water, and the pump moves it up and out when the level rises. This page covers what the specs mean and what to check before you plan an installation.
How the system works
Waste water from the sink flows into the basin. A vertical float switch rises with the water and turns the pump on, and as the level drops, the float falls and the pump stops. VEVOR says this automatic control saves energy and extends the pump's life, because the motor avoids unnecessary starts and stops.
The pump is powered at 120 volts and is listed as 1/3 HP (VEVOR says "over 1/3 HP"), spinning at 3,500 RPM.
Flow, head and solids
Three numbers describe how a pump like this performs:
- Flow: the maximum is 2,900 gallons per hour (GPH). That is a figure at the best point of the pump's curve; real flow drops as the water has to be lifted higher.
- Head: the maximum is 25 ft. Head is the height the pump can push water up. At maximum head the flow falls to near zero, so for good performance the actual lift should be well below that.
- Solids: the pump handles particles up to 3/8 inch, according to VEVOR. This is for ordinary sink and laundry waste, not for heavy debris.
The outlet is 1-1/2 inch NPT, so you connect a discharge pipe with a matching fitting. Local plumbing codes often set rules for the discharge pipe, a check valve and the connection to the drain line, so follow those and the manual.
Motor and build
VEVOR describes an oil-filled copper-wire motor, which it says helps prevent overheating and reduces vibration and noise. The pump body is corrosion-resistant cast aluminium, and the listing says the product meets ETL standards. Oil-filled motors usually run cooler because the oil carries heat away from the windings.
Installation
According to VEVOR, installation involves attaching the pump, the vertical switch and the discharge pipe to the drainage basin. The complete unit measures about 15.7 x 15.7 x 16 inches (roughly 40 x 40 x 41 cm) and weighs 18.3 lb (about 8.3 kg), so check that the space under your sink or in your utility area can hold it.
Who it suits
It suits homeowners with a basement laundry or utility sink below the drain line, and small workshops that need to move sink water upward. It's not described as a sump pump for groundwater; the listing points to utility and laundry use.
What to check before you buy
- Space: measure the area for the basin, with room to reach the float switch and pipe.
- Lift: work out the vertical height and the length of the discharge run to the drain.
- Fittings: confirm the 1-1/2 inch NPT outlet matches your pipe, and see if a check valve is needed.
- Electrical: a 120-volt outlet is needed, and codes may require a grounded, protected circuit.
- Water type: this is for sink and laundry water, so check the manual for any limits on temperature or chemicals.
- Upkeep: lint and debris can affect a float switch, so occasional checks are wise.
