The VEVOR LVA1-95 is a single-spool hydraulic directional control valve with a joystick handle. It directs oil to move a cylinder one way or the other, which is how a log splitter, loader or similar machine is controlled. VEVOR offers it as a replacement for leaking or worn valves on small to medium hydraulic equipment.

What a directional control valve does

In a hydraulic system, a pump supplies pressurised oil, and a valve decides where it goes. Moving the handle shifts a spool inside the valve body, opening a path for oil to extend or retract a cylinder. A single-spool valve controls one function, such as the splitting ram on a log splitter.

Ports

The valve has a 1/2-inch NPT working port and 3/4-inch NPT inlet and outlet ports. NPT is a tapered pipe thread standard common in North America. Before ordering, compare these sizes to your existing hoses and fittings, as adapters may be needed if your system uses another thread.

Flow and pressure limits

VEVOR rates the valve for 25 GPM (95 L/min) flow. A higher flow figure generally lets a cylinder move faster, as long as the pump and hoses can supply it. The maximum pressure is 25 MPa, or 3,626 PSI. A built-in relief (safety) valve protects against overpressure, according to VEVOR. Make sure your pump and system are rated within these limits, since the weakest component sets the safe maximum.

Spring return and handle

The spool has a spring return mechanism that resets it to the neutral position when you let go. A second spring at the base of the handle is meant to make joystick control smoother. Spring-return valves are common on log splitters because they stop the cylinder when you release the handle.

Construction

The body is solid vermicular graphite cast iron, which VEVOR says gives long-term service. Cast iron is rigid and handles pressure well, but it is heavy. The valve weighs about 8.8 lb and measures roughly 11.8 x 9.3 x 4.0 inches.

Installing it

VEVOR describes a simple process: identify the ports, connect the pipelines and tighten each interface. The brand reminds users to release hydraulic pressure before disassembling the pump or adapters. Hydraulic oil under pressure can cause serious injuries, so follow the equipment maker's manual, wear eye protection and use correct fittings.

Who it suits

The valve suits owners of small to medium log splitters, and small tractors or loaders, who need to replace a leaking or malfunctioning valve with a similar one. VEVOR also says this type of valve is used in agriculture, forestry, construction and industry.

What to check before you buy

  • Port sizes and threads: compare them to your hoses and the original valve.
  • Flow and pressure: match 25 GPM and 3,626 PSI to the limits of your pump and cylinder.
  • Spool type: confirm that a single-spool, spring-return valve suits how your machine works.
  • Mounting: check the bolt pattern and available space for the handle.
  • Oil: use the hydraulic fluid your equipment maker specifies.
  • Fitting: consider having a qualified person install it if you are unsure.

The short version

  • A VEVOR LVA1-95 single-spool hydraulic directional control valve with joystick handle.
  • 25 GPM (95 L/min) flow and 25 MPa (3,626 PSI) maximum pressure.
  • 1/2-inch NPT working port; 3/4-inch NPT inlet and outlet.
  • Spring return to neutral, built-in relief valve, cast-iron body.
  • Release pressure before any disassembly.
