The VEVOR J1G-ZB-205-1 is a metal-cutting chop saw. It clamps the workpiece on a base and brings a 7-1/4 inch blade down through it, which is how fabricators and DIY builders cut square tube, flat bar and steel sections to length. It is compact at 14.6 x 9.1 x 15.2 inches and weighs 14.4 lb.
Motor and speed
VEVOR gives the motor as 1200W, 10A, running at 4000 rpm. A cold cut saw turns slower than an abrasive cut-off wheel, which is why the cut tends to be cleaner. The brand says the power handles various metals consistently.
Cold cut blade
The blade is a stainless steel cold cut blade. Rather than grinding material away with an abrasive disc, a cold cut blade has teeth that shear off chips, so the work stays cooler and there are fewer sparks. VEVOR says it delivers more than 3,500 cuts, and gives the cutting capacity as 2.76 in wide and 2.56 in thick. Cutting results vary with material, wall thickness and feed speed, so the cut count is a guide rather than a promise. In general, the cut edge of a cold cut blade needs little deburring compared with an abrasive cut.
Angle adjustment
The head adjusts from 0 to 45°. Square cuts are made at zero, and angled cuts are used for mitre joints in frames and brackets. VEVOR says accurate angles reduce waste and finishing work.
Clamping and materials
A quick-adjustment wrench clamps the stock, and VEVOR says it can be operated with one hand. The listing names metal square and flat tubes, square and flat steels, and I-shaped steels as typical materials. A secure clamp matters, since a workpiece that moves during the cut can bind the blade or ruin the cut.
Guards and protections
The saw has an auto-return guard and a quick-lock mechanism. VEVOR says these help prevent accidental start-up and injury. Whatever the guards, always wear eye and hearing protection and gloves as the manual directs, keep hands clear of the blade path, and unplug the saw when changing the blade.
Who it suits
It suits home workshops, welders, fabricators and DIY builders who cut metal tube or bar for frames, racks, gates or brackets and want a tidier cut than a hand grinder gives. Its modest weight makes it easy to move between a bench and a job site.
What to check before you buy
- Material and size: confirm your stock fits the 2.76 in width and 2.56 in thickness capacity.
- Material type: check that the blade is suitable for the metals you cut.
- Blade replacement: find out which replacement blades fit before you need them.
- Workspace: a stable bench and good lighting are important; clamp longer stock with supports.
- Power supply: the 10A draw should suit your outlet and any extension cord.
- Noise and protective gear: plan for eye, ear and hand protection.
