The VEVOR FLO300 is a 350W macerator pump, often called an upflush pump. It collects waste water from fixtures that sit below the main drain, grinds it up and pumps it away, so you can add a sink, shower or laundry in a basement without breaking up the floor. This page explains what the specs mean and what to confirm before planning an install.

What a macerating pump does

In many basements the fixtures are lower than the house drain, so gravity can't carry waste away. A macerating upflush pump takes the water into a small tank, breaks up solids with a cutter, and pushes the result up and out through a narrow discharge pipe. VEVOR says the pump collects, treats and discharges waste water from bathrooms without extensive renovation.

Flow and head: what 6000 L/h and 23 ft mean

VEVOR rates the pump at a maximum flow of 6000 litres per hour and a maximum head of 23 feet (7 m). Head is the vertical height the pump can lift water, and flow falls as the lift rises, so the two maximums are not reached together. Pipe length, bends and the vertical rise of your own installation all reduce what you get in practice.

Motor and hot water

The motor is a 350W copper-wound design. VEVOR says it is oil-filled to protect it and to cope with continuous 75°C water or 90°C water for four hours. That matters for dishwashers and washing machines, which can discharge hot water. Check the manual for what the pump may be connected to and for temperature limits.

Three inlets and compact shape

Three built-in water inlets let you connect several fixtures, such as a bathtub, shower, laundry or kitchen sink. The unit is compact at about 11.8 x 6.5 x 6.5 inches and weighs 11.5 lb, so it suits shallow spaces. It has four pads to reduce noise and vibration, and a built-in check valve to prevent backflow without an external one. VEVOR also mentions an updated sealing structure.

Odour and upkeep

VEVOR describes a silver-ion water tank intended to limit odour, and calls the pump maintenance-free. Even so, plumbing equipment of this type typically benefits from periodic checks, and what can safely go into it is limited. Follow the manual on what may and may not be flushed or drained into it.

Who it suits

It suits homeowners finishing a basement and anyone adding a laundry, utility sink or shower where the drain is above the fixture. The installation involves plumbing and electrical connections, so many people hire a qualified plumber, and local codes may apply.

What to check before you buy

  • Local codes: confirm what your building and plumbing codes require for upflush systems, and whether a permit is needed.
  • Fixtures: check whether the pump is rated for the fixtures you plan to connect, as the manual describes.
  • Discharge route: work out the vertical rise and horizontal run to the drain stack.
  • Venting: check the manual on venting requirements.
  • Power: confirm a suitable, correctly protected outlet is available.
  • Access: leave room for servicing and inspection.
