VEVOR AT1-2200X 3HP Variable Frequency Drive: features, specs and who it suits

The VEVOR AT1-2200X is a variable frequency drive (VFD) rated at 2.2kW, or 3HP. It takes single-phase 220-240V power and produces three-phase 220-240V output, so you can run a three-phase AC motor from an ordinary single-phase supply and control its speed. Here is what the specifications mean and what to confirm first.

What a variable frequency drive does

An AC motor's speed is tied to the frequency of the power it receives. A VFD changes that frequency, so the motor can run slower or faster without belts or gears. VEVOR lists an output range of 0 to 400Hz, with an input frequency of 50/60Hz.

Because the drive ramps frequency up and down gradually, VEVOR describes soft starts and stops and steady motor control. Starting a motor gently typically puts less mechanical strain on the equipment than switching it straight on.

Single-phase in, three-phase out

Many workshops and homes only have single-phase supply, while many industrial motors are three-phase. This drive is built for that gap: single-phase AC 220-240V in, three-phase AC 220-240V out, rated at 10A. The motor needs to be a three-phase unit with a matching voltage, and its current should stay within the drive's 10A limit.

Where it can be used

VEVOR lists compressors, lathes, fans and milling machines as example applications. It also notes two limits. The drive does not support an external braking resistor, and for heavier motor loads it recommends a higher-powered VFD. In general, loads that are hard to start or stop quickly need more headroom than the nameplate power suggests.

Controls and display

The control panel has a display and a frequency knob, and parameters are adjusted through the panel following the included guide. The panel is detachable and comes with a 7.9-inch cable, so you can mount it away from the drive body, for instance on the front of a machine.

Protection and cooling

VEVOR describes a 10-layer protection system covering overcurrent, overload, overvoltage, phase loss and more. The circuit board has a triple-proof paint coating. A fan and multi-sided, multi-hole housing handle cooling, and VEVOR says this keeps noise low during extended use.

Size

The drive measures about 3.9 x 5.5 x 5.5 inches (10 x 14 x 14 cm) and weighs 2.2 lb (about 1 kg), so it fits in a compact enclosure or on a machine frame.

Who it suits

It suits hobbyists and small workshops that want to run a three-phase motor from a single-phase supply and set its speed. Parameter setup is part of the job, so you should be comfortable reading a manual and entering motor details.

What to check before you buy

  • Motor type and size: confirm your motor is three-phase, 220-240V, and within 3HP / 10A.
  • Supply: confirm you have a single-phase 220-240V supply on a suitably rated circuit.
  • Load: heavy-starting or high-inertia loads may need a larger drive; no braking resistor can be added.
  • Mounting and airflow: leave space around the housing for ventilation.
  • Wiring: drives involve mains-voltage wiring. Follow the manual and local electrical codes, and use a qualified electrician if unsure.

The short version

  • 2.2kW (3HP), 10A variable frequency drive for AC motors.
  • Single-phase 220-240V input, three-phase 220-240V output, 0-400Hz.
  • Display, frequency knob and a detachable panel with a 7.9-inch cable.
  • 10-layer protection list and a cooling fan; no external braking resistor support.
  • Compact at about 2.2 lb (1 kg).
