This VEVOR set includes six stainless steel stanchion posts and black velvet ropes. Stanchions mark out a queue, keep people away from a display or define an area at an event. The set is built to be assembled quickly and moved when the layout changes.
What is in the set
The model is HJHGT320PDTCBLACK6-4. It includes six posts, two velvet ropes of 4.92 ft (1.5 m) each, and four four-way connectors. The numbers matter: two ropes join four posts into a short run, and the connectors let the ropes attach at different angles. Plan your layout around the rope length, since each span between posts is limited to the length of a rope.
Posts and bases
The posts are 201 stainless steel, a common grade for indoor and sheltered use. VEVOR describes a wide, non-slip polyethylene base with a sand-injection design. The hollow base can hold up to 7.72 lb (3.5 kg) of sand. The sand adds weight and lowers the centre of gravity, which helps the post resist bumps. VEVOR says the base withstands sudden impacts and direct sunlight. Empty, the whole set weighs 21 lb (about 9.5 kg), and a post stands about 34.6 inches (88 cm) tall.
Setting up
No tools are needed. You fill each base with sand, screw the base into place, and hook the ropes to the posts. Sand is not included, so buy dry, fine sand. Fill the bases evenly so each post stands upright.
Using the ropes
Velvet ropes give a formal look, which suits weddings, receptions, galleries and hotel entrances. A rope barrier is a visual guide and does not physically stop anyone. It's meant to direct people rather than to restrain them. For anything involving large crowds or safety-critical areas, a qualified event planner or venue manager should decide what barriers are needed.
Who it suits
It suits wedding planners, small venues, exhibitions, shops, theatres and party hosts. VEVOR lists theatre, wedding, museum, hotel and exhibition use. It also suits anyone who wants to mark off a table or a display at home.
What to check before you buy
- Number of posts: six posts and two ropes make a limited layout. If you need a longer line, check whether you can buy extra ropes and posts that fit.
- Rope length: each span is 4.92 ft (1.5 m). Check that this suits the gaps you need to bridge.
- Colour: this set is black. Check that it matches your venue.
- Sand: you supply the sand. Check the weight when the bases are full.
- Indoor or outdoor: consider wind, uneven ground and the stainless steel grade, and follow the manual.
- Storage: the posts need room to be stored upright or in a box.
