The VEVOR RV650P-H/RV650R-HL is a 50 ft, 50 amp extension cord with NEMA 6-50 ends. It is built for high-power equipment, extending the reach between a generator, or another 50 amp source, and the machinery it runs. It comes with a storage bag and a cable tie.

What the NEMA 6-50 ends are

NEMA numbers describe plug and receptacle shapes. A 6-50 is a 250-volt, 50 amp connector with two hot blades and a ground, often seen on welders and some industrial equipment. This is not the same as the 14-50 connector common on RVs and many generators, so the cord only fits equipment with a matching 6-50 outlet or plug. Check the connectors on both machines.

Cable gauge and length

The cord uses 6 AWG copper conductors, and VEVOR specifies it for 50A. In the AWG system a lower number is thicker wire. Thicker wire carries more current with less heat and voltage drop, and longer runs need thicker wire for the same load. At 50 ft (15.24 m), a heavy gauge is what keeps a 50 amp load from losing too much voltage along the way.

Weather resistance

The jacket carries an SWT insulation designation. VEVOR says that lets the cord withstand rain, humidity and intense sunlight, and suit outdoor work or indoor extension. The cord is also ETL certified according to the listing, which means a testing laboratory has certified it to a safety standard. Regardless, inspect the cord for cuts or damage before each use and keep connections off wet ground.

Indicator light and handles

The female end has a light that shows whether the connection is live, which saves a trip back to the machine to check. Ergonomic handles on the plugs give a firm grip and cut down hand strain during frequent plugging and unplugging.

Storage and transport

A storage bag and a cable tie come with it. Heavy 6 AWG cable is stiff and tangles easily, and the cord weighs 33.5 lb in total, so coiling it neatly and keeping it in a bag helps protect it. Loose, large loops are typically easier on the cable than tight bends.

Who it suits

It suits people who run a 50 amp generator or welder some distance from where the work is, such as contractors, workshop owners and anyone with a 6-50 powered machine. Those with a 14-50 setup, or a modest load, will need a different cord.

What to check before you buy

  • Connector type: confirm that both the source and the machine use 6-50, not 14-50 or another shape.
  • Total load: check that your equipment's amps and volts are within 50A at 250V.
  • Length: 50 ft is long; use only as much as you need, since extra length adds voltage drop.
  • Operation: unroll the cord fully when under heavy load and follow the manual and local electrical codes.
  • Storage: note that the cord is 33.5 lb and the packed size is around 16.5 x 16.3 x 7.3 inches.

The short version

  • A 50 ft, 6 AWG generator extension cord with NEMA 6-50P and 6-50R ends, rated for 50A.
  • SWT jacket for outdoor use; ETL certified per the listing.
  • Indicator light on the female end and ergonomic plug handles.
  • Comes with a storage bag and cable tie.
  • Fits only equipment that uses 6-50 connectors.
