The VEVOR FB1500D0-20C80 is a 20-gallon, oil-free portable air compressor with a 3 kW (4HP) motor, rated at 10.6 CFM at 90 PSI. It is designed to run air tools such as nail guns, impact wrenches and spray guns, and to inflate tyres. Here is what its numbers mean and which questions to settle before buying.

CFM, PSI and why both matter

Two numbers describe a compressor's output. PSI is pressure, and this unit tops out at 125 PSI. CFM is air volume per minute at a given pressure. VEVOR rates this compressor at 10.6 CFM at 90 PSI, and 90 PSI is the pressure most air tools are run at. For tool selection, CFM is usually the figure to match: continuous tools such as sanders, grinders and spray guns use much more air than a nail gun, which uses short bursts. Check the CFM requirement of your tool and keep a margin.

Tank size

The 20-gallon steel tank stores compressed air so the motor does not have to run constantly. A bigger tank gives longer tool runtime before the pump restarts and smooths out the delivery. Twenty gallons is a mid-sized tank, handy for garage use, auto repair and woodwork.

Oil-free pump

Oil-free pumps need no oil changes and are simpler to maintain, with no oil to check or top up. They are often louder than oil-lubricated designs, though VEVOR lists this unit at 78 dB, and says the silencers (a thickened muffler cover, rubber muffler pipe and filter cotton) lower noise and keep fine dust out. For comparison, 78 dB is roughly the level of a busy street, and noise perception varies with the room, so hearing protection is still sensible.

Motor and electrical needs

The compressor has a 3 kW motor running at 1,680 r/min and is listed as 220V, 60Hz. That means it needs a suitable 220V supply, not a standard household 120V outlet. Check the plug type and the circuit requirements in the manual, and have electrical work done to local code if you need a new outlet.

Build and protection

VEVOR describes a three-layer finish over Q235B structural steel, with seamless welding. The intake pipe uses high-temperature silicone with a stainless braided mesh. Protection features include a large cooling fan and automatic overheat protection, plus automatic shut-off or pressure relief when current or tank pressure is too high. Even so, follow the manual: drain the tank regularly to remove moisture, and use the pressure relief as directed.

Size and weight

It measures about 35.4 x 16.9 x 28.7 inches and weighs roughly 135 lb, so it is a workshop fixture to be moved on its wheels rather than carried around.

Who it suits

It suits home garages, hobby workshops and small trade use, where the work includes tyre inflation, nailing, brad guns and spray painting. Heavier continuous jobs, such as running a large sander all day, need an air supply sized to the tool.

What to check before you buy

  • Power: confirm you have 220V available with the right plug.
  • Tool demand: compare your tools' CFM at 90 PSI with the compressor's rated output.
  • Space and noise: pick a spot with space for cooling airflow and the tank.
  • Accessories: hose, fittings, regulator and filters for painting may be required.
  • Upkeep: plan to drain the tank and check filters, as the manual explains.
  • Moving it: consider how you will manoeuvre 135 lb up steps.

The short version

  • A 20-gallon oil-free compressor with a 3 kW (4HP) motor and 220V supply.
  • 10.6 CFM at 90 PSI, maximum 125 PSI.
  • 78 dB rated, with silencers and overheat protection.
  • Steel construction; about 135 lb.
  • Match CFM, power supply and space to your tools before buying.
